In the last couple of years, Aaron Ramsey has fallen catastrophically off the footballing radar - once a star player for Arsenal and part of a Juventus side that featured Cristiano Ronaldo, Ramsey has struggled to garner regular football in the last couple of seasons, which included a stint as player-manager of Cardiff.
However, upon the Bluebird’s relegation to League One, Ramsey took another leap as he searched for one last pay cheque before retirement, and in the summer signed on the dotted line for Mexican giants Pumas.
Although his performances in the six games he has played for the club so far, Ramsey has once again entered the spotlight, albeit for an unusual, and slightly sad reason: it was announced last week that his dog Halo had been kidnapped.
The news of Halo’s disappearance first circulated on October 13th, 15 days ago, when the dog vanished from the dog boarding centre that Ramsey had dropped him at that day.

The doggy daycare, a place called Hipsterrier, is located in the heart of San Miguel de Allende, Guanajuato, a city 240 kilometres from his side’s home stadium in Mexico City.
Ever since, Ramsey and his family have been regularly posting on both X and Instagram in a bid to uncover information about the missing pooch, initially offering a reward of $10,000 for any hints that may reunite the former Welsh international with Halo.
However, in the two weeks since the incident, there has been no sign of the 10-year-old Beagle, and as a result, tensions have begun to soar between Ramsey and the Hipsterrier.
The initial report over Halo’s disappearance revealed several curious lapses from Hipsterrier, namely that none of their security cameras appeared to be recording at the time of the incident - as a result, there was no footage that may have hinted at the circumstances surrounding the dog’s disappearance.
🐶💔 EL DRAMA DE LA FAMILIA DE AARON RAMSEY

Both the media and Ramsey have accused the dog boarding company of negligence, with the Ramsey family filing a complaint against the brand due to the slack video surveillance and the little help they have offered in theorising how Halo may have slipped past them.
It is also worth noting that Halo was wearing a tracking device in her collar that signalled her exact whereabouts at any given time - however, it appears that the last signal emitted from the collar led investigators no closer to discovering the dog's location. Now, two weeks on from the start of the nightmare, Ramsey has increased the reward for information on his dog to $20,000, a huge fee for anyone in the heart of Mexico.
It is still unclear whether Halo was taken by another party or simply escaped and got lost, but Mexican authorities still believe her to be alive and findable; hence, her status is maintained as missing rather than “recovered”.
However, two weeks is a long time in any investigation, animal-related or otherwise, and the increased reward indicates that Ramsey is getting increasingly desperate with his attempts to recover his pet.

The $20,000 sum could prove to be a vital incentive for someone to come forward and provide critical information on her whereabouts. However, if no further leads emerge from this latest move, the Welshman will be starting to run out of time.
We can only hope that with a name like Halo, the Beagle has a guardian angel and returns home safe to the Ramsey household sooner rather than later.
