Where did Bournemouth finish last season?

In a season where they were tipped to be right in the middle of a relegation scrap, Bournemouth exceeded expectations brilliantly, finishing 12th. The Cherries even managed to briefly find themselves in the hard fought battle for European football, but faded in the last gameweeks of the season.

Striker Dominic Solanke played a big part in their excellent campaign by notching 21 goals in all competitions, 19 of those coming in the premier league. Flanked by a handful of dangerous wingers such as Antoine Semeneyo and Justin Kluivert, the Bournemouth front line became a real handful for even the best defenses in the league.

At the back, Marcos Senesi and Illia Zabarnyi kept things tight while Neto pulled off some incredible saves in goal. Currently a well-rounded mid table squad, a couple of clever signings could see the seasiders push for a European place in the coming season.

Best Result: Manchester United 0-3 Bournemouth. (Solanke 5’, Billing 68’, Senesi 73’).

Worst Result: Manchester City 6-1 Bournemouth . (City: Doku 30’, Silva 33’ 83, Akanji 37’, Foden 64’, Ake 88’. Bournemouth: Sinisterra 74’).

Who is Bournemouth’s manager for 2024/25?

Iraola.jpg

Andoni Iraola was appointed in June last year, following the surprise firing of Gary O’Neil, who had carried them to 15th place in their first season back in the top flight since promotion. Despite the sacking seeming harsh, the Bournemouth faithful had no complaints about his replacement.

Prior to the Bournemouth job, Iraola had a three year spell in his home country of Spain in charge of Rayo Vallecano, where in three seasons, he had taken them from the second division to 11th place in La Liga.

Bringing that momentum to Bournemouth, Iraola soon had the Cherries playing some beautiful, fluid football, which sparked rumors that the Spanish national team had listed him as potentially their next coach. If things continue as they are at Bournemouth, it won’t be long before more high profile rumors start to surface.

Who is Bournemouth’s player to watch? Dominic Solanke.

Solanke.jpg

After a coming of age season last year, it was never going to be anyone else for this section. The former Chelsea youngster, who also had a spell at Liverpool where he bagged only one Premier League goal, found an extra level to his game last season, and put himself in contention for the golden boot until the last weeks of the campaign.

Putting oneself alongside the likes of Erling Haaland, Alexander Isak and Cole Palmer in the goal standings takes some doing, and Solanke’s excellent form didn’t go unrecognized, as he has been linked with multiple big clubs this summer.

However, for now at least it seems he’ll be staying on the south coast, and as long as he is fit and firing for the Cherries, there is a more than realistic chance of them improving upon last season's excellence to push for a European spot.

Bournemouth 2024/25 season prediction

With the permanent signings of former loanees Luis Sinisterra and Enes Unal, along with the contract extensions of Lewis Cook and Antoine Semeneyo, Bournemouth have tied down some of their best players for the foreseeable future, building a solid platform for success.

With their already discussed depth all over the pitch, it may simply be one or two marquee signings that could see them break their glass ceiling. If they can combine that with the development of their younger talents, such as exciting midfielder Alex Scott, then they have an almost guaranteed recipe for success.

I can definitely see them in a battle for a top half finish this season, and they may even be in with an outside chance of fighting for a European place, but I think it’s one season too early to seal their spot in Europe’s elite.

I think they may just miss out on the top half this season, but their experience over the coming 9 months will stand them in good stead for the 25/26 season, where i think they will really start to show some quality..

Prediction: 11th.
