Atletico Madrid Eye Shock Move For Conor Gallagher

According to reports in Spain from Isabel Pacheco, who Football Park rate as a tier three source for reliability, Atletico Madrid have enquired about the possibility of securing Conor Gallagher’s signature this summer.

The Spanish giants are very keen on the England international, with Diego Simeone said to appreciate the profile of the Chelsea midfielder.

They are believed to be monitoring the situation although interest remains in the early stages.

Simeone is looking to bolster his squad this summer after a disappointing season saw them finish fourth in La Liga, 19 points behind champions Real Madrid.

Gallagher has been heavily linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge over the last few months, with suggestions the Chelsea hierarchy are keen to part ways with him to adhere to Financial Fair Play regulations.

Atletico will face stiff competition from Aston Villa and Tottenham Hotspur who have also expressed interest in signing the Blues midfielder. Simeone’s side may face an upward battle to convince Gallagher should he wish to stay in England. Tottenham could be his most likely destination which would see him continue living in London.

Gallagher is currently playing in Euro 2024 having come on as a substitute in England’s narrow 1-0 victory against Serbia.

Ahead of the opening game he was asked about the rumours circulating about his possible departure, but Gallagher was keen to downplay any suggestions of a summer move.

“I’m focused on England, not my club future. That is the most important thing for me and for the country. I just want to start the tournament”

“It is not difficult, I’m in a very privileged position to be at a tournament like this and I couldn’t be happier with my situation”.

Gallagher enjoyed an impressive campaign becoming one of Chelsea’s most important players, with a total of 50 appearances in all competitions managing seven goals and providing nine assists.

The Blues midfielder is out of contract in 2025 with Chelsea keen to avoid a possible free transfer next summer.

His focus will be on the Euros with a deal unlikely to materialise until the end of the tournament in Germany.
