Blackburn Rovers are going through a battle of a season across the 25/26 campaign thus far.
The Riversiders currently occupy 20th in the EFL Championship table under the watch of Valerien Ismael and must be prepared to fight their way away from the business end of the league. They need a strong window to boost these chances of avoiding a drag towards the relegation battle, thoughts echoed by pundit Jobi McAnuff.
But their transfer window, after all, may not be getting off to the strong start they need. Everton have begun circling the Lancashire outfit over one of their key players, and may be able to secure his signature for a well-below-value fee.
Remember the name!!

Nigeria might have found a new Right-back for the next decade.

Ryan Alebiosu has emerged as a potential target this winter for Premier League mainstays Everton, as well as Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg amidst strong performances for Blackburn Rovers this season.
The Nigerian is currently away at the Africa Cup of Nations, and made his international debut with the Super Eagles in their recent 3-1 win over Uganda to make it three wins from three in their group stage efforts.
Prior to this, he has made 20 Championship appearances for Rovers over the course of the season after signing from Belgian side Kortrijk in the summer of 2025. According to ESPN, Blackburn have set a measly asking price of just £4m for his services this winter, which has pricked the ears of interested parties like Everton and Wolfsburg.
For a summer signing to become one of the stronger performers in a squad threatened by relegation, only to potentially leave just a few months later for a meagre £4m would be some pretty sensationally poor business by Blackburn.
The 24-year-old has been deployed mainly as a right-back by Blackburn this season under Ismael, and has a contract at Ewood Park leading to the summer of 2028 with the option of an extra year, meaning there is no immediate need to cash in on him.

If £4m is the true valuation placed upon him, then Everton and Wolfsburg could do far worse with far more expensive choices if they do opt to make their move for Alebiosu in order to bolster their fullback departments.
It is understood that any move for the 24-year-old would come after Nigeria's participation in AFCON comes to a close. The Super Eagles are one of the favourites to win the tournament having reached the previous final, which falls on the 18th of January this time around.
