Coventry Star Set For £10m Bundesliga Move

Coventry right back Milan Van Ewijk look set to join Bundesliga side VFL Wolfsburg on a permanent transfer, according to Sacha Tavolieri.

The clubs are sorting out the final details with the Dutchman agreeing personal terms on a 4-year contract with a deal valued at around £10m including add-ons.

Van Ewijk joined Coventry in 2023, spending two seasons at the club where he was a vital part of their underdog FA Cup run in 23/24 and their playoff campaign last season.

Coventry Reluctant to Sell

Naturally, Coventry didn't want to sell such an important part of their squad with the initial asking price set at around £15m.

However, that stance appears to have softened with The Sky Blues now looking to get the saga wrapped up, so they can focus their attention on strengthening the squad with the money.

According to multiple reports, Wolves had been offered the chance to sign the Dutch full-back for that quoted £15m earlier in the window, but with the Premier League side pursuing other options, VFL Wolfsburg have got their man.

Coventry's Ready-Made Replacement?

Sensing Van Ewijk's departure may have been imminent, Coventry signed the versatile Kaine Kesler-Hayden earlier in the transfer window from Aston Villa for £3.5m.

Kesler-Hayden spent last season on loan at Preston, spending most of his time deployed as a right wing-back as he won the clubs player of the season award.

Frank Lampard will likely look to promote the 22-year-old to a regular starter in his first team picture as Coventry look to continue their fantastic start to the season.
