FPL Tips GW7: THREE buys, TWO sales, ONE captain
Ahead of GW7 in the Premier League, we have picked three players you should be looking to have in your FPL team, two players that it may be time to move on, and the player who you should be looking to captain for the week.
Tottenham have had their critics over their defending since Ange Postecoglou took charge before the start of last season, with their set pieces being highlighted over the last month. However, Spurs look to be more assured than ever at the back, conceding the second least number of goals in the Premier League this season (5). They are also in the top five teams for least xG conceded so far with 6.3. At only 4.5m, Van de Ven can be a cheap way into the Spurs defence, ahead of three home games in their next five games, however, the Spurs defender also offers an attacking threat, with two assists from five starts in the league this season.
If you already do not have Mbuemo in your side, he is someone who must be on your radar. The Brentford star has already notched up five goals in six matches this season, although three of those games came against Liverpool, Manchester City, and Tottenham, all being away from home. With Ivan Toney’s move to Saudi Arabia, and both Igor Thiago and Yoane Wissa out injured, Mbuemo has found himself to be the furthest player forward in a dangerous Brentford side. With only one game in their next seven being against sides in the top half of the table, and four of the games against teams in the bottom six, expect Mbuemo to grab many attacking returns.
As everyone knows, Palmer is arguably the best player currently in the Premier League. his record-breaking performance last week, scoring four in the first half, was one to remember, gifting his owners a remarkable 25 points. Although Palmer faces some difficult fixtures in the next two months, he has shown that he can return against anybody. With Palmer also excluded from Chelsea’s Europa Conference League squad, he will be ready to start every game for Chelsea in the league. The fact that he is ‘fixture proof’ and also doesn’t have European distractions means that he is someone who should be in your fantasy team.
Many people’s underdogs this season, Crystal Palace, have struggled massively to start the season. Currently winless and in the bottom three, Palace have drastically dropped off from their end of season form last year. A big reason to this drop-off is the form of Eze. With Michael Olise’s move to Bayern Munich, the pressure was added to the shoulders of Eze, which so far he has not managed to deliver. With only one goal contribution in a struggling Palace side, FPL managers pre-season favourite will be someone that has to be moved on from, as they face both Liverpool and Spurs in their next three fixtures.
Coming in as the third most expensive striker in the game, his return of one goal and one assist this season is not what you would want. After missing Newcastle’s match against Manchester City, Isak still remains a doubt for the match against Everton in GW7. Still owned by just over 18% of players, it may be time to switch to strikers such as Kai Havertz or Dominic Solanke, who will save you money and also score you more points.
Yes, the boring choice. A toss-up between the Norwegian and Palmer, however I find the former to be the better choice. Both players teams are up against good defences, as Fulham and Nottingham Forest have both only conceded five goals each, and even after Haaland’s blank last week, it is so difficult to bet against him. It could be a big swing if one gets a couple of returns and the other blanks. Other options could be Mohammed Salah who has Crystal Palace away, or possibly a differential captain in Mbuemo, as his Brentford side play against Wolves at home.
