The Premier League Matchday 17 has seen eight action packed matches on Saturday, with 20 goals scored between the clubs.
Football Park are here to give you the main stories from each game and how it affects the league table.
Woltemade Brace And Reece James Beauty As Points Are Shared
The early kick-off brought us a fantastic start to the day. A 2-2 draw between Newcastle and Chelsea where it was all left out on the pitch. A bright start from Newcastle as summer signing Woltemade scored a brace after just 20 minutes. It was all Newcastle in the first half but that was all to change instantly in the second half. A beautiful free-kick from Reece James and the Blues were back into the game just 4 minutes into the second half. Chelsea pushed on from this point but couldn't find the equaliser. It took a Thiaw error for Joao Pedro to capitalise and slot it past Ramsdale to bring it all square. Penalty shouts , fouls, were all happening in the final 20 minutes as both sides tried to find the winner but neither managed it. The draw sees Newcastle stay in the middle of the table, with Chelsea keeping their place in fourth.
Haaland On Form In Classy Man City Win
Yet again Erling Haaland was the centre of the action at home vs West Ham, with the star striker bagging another two goals, bringing his season tally up to 19 in 17 games! He also got himself an assist for Reijnders who scored in between the Norwegian's brace. This win keeps Man City fighting right at the very top of the League with Arsenal, the title race is certainly heating up. It was a slick footballing performance from City from minute one to minute 90. Pure class was on display throughout the side which was too much to handle for West Ham United away from home. City scored in the fourth minute and West Ham couldn't keep up from that point onward.
Stalemate between Brighton And Sunderland
All square between two sides currently pushing trying to gain points into the european places. Neither side could find the breakthrough as they drew 0-0. Brighton came into this one with hopes of snapping their recent winless run but were met with a well-organised Sunderland defence that stood firm throughout. The Seagulls enjoyed more of the ball and created the better of the chances, but it simply wouldn’t go in. A second-half header from Omar Alderete forced a fine stop from Bart Verbruggen, and Yasin Ayari struck just wide with one of Brighton’s best openings late on. The draw leaves Brighton still searching for a win after several games without victory, while Sunderland continue to climb the table with a valuable point in their push towards European qualification.
Bournemouth And Burnley Share The Points In Late Fightback
In a game that swung back and forth, Bournemouth and Burnley played out a 1–1 draw in the south coast. Bournemouth struck first with a composed finish, but Burnley rallied and were rewarded deep the second half when Armando Broja found the equaliser. It was a scrappy contest with neither side able to dominate for long spells, but the late drama ensured both sets of supporters had something to cheer. Bournemouth stay firmly mid-table, while Burnley extend their unbeaten streak without a win but pick up a useful point on the road. Burnley need to pick up more than just draws if they want to make their way out of the relegation zone however, with the teams around them starting to pick up points.
Brentford Breeze Past Wolves
It was a confident afternoon for Brentford, who took all three points on the road with a tidy 2–0 win over Wolves at Molineux. The Bees showed real attacking threat from minute one, and it was no surprise to see them break the deadlock before half-time. Wolves, still searching for form this season, struggled to create clear chances against an organised Brentford back line. A second goal early in the second half put the game beyond doubt and sent the visiting fans into full voice. This result takes Brentford further clear of the relegation zone, while Wolves remain in serious trouble and without a win in a worrying run of form.
Liverpool Beat 9-Man Spurs Despite Late Scare
Despite quite a Lethargic first half, the second half brought a lot of action as two red cards and three goals saw Liverpool beat Spurs 2-1. Xavi Simons saw red late into the first half after a rash challenge on fellow Dutch International Virgil Van DIjk. Both sides were at a stalemate at half time until substitute Alexander Isak both scored and got injured in the same motion to put Liverpool 1-0 up! Liverpool kicked on from this point with Ekitike the man to put Liverpool 2 goals up. Richarlison was the man to bring Tottenham back into the game late on, after some scrappy bounce backs around the box fell to the brazillian. Captain Romero saw red shortly after after contesting with Ibrahima Konate. Despite some shaky last few minutes, Liverpool saw out the victory as they look to get back on track.
🚨 𝗦𝗧𝗔𝗧: Tottenham have failed to win 7 out of their last 8 Premier League games.

Calvert-Lewin On Fire!
Leeds United's number 9 with a wonderful performance as the Yorkshire side pick up a big win against a strong Crystal Palace side. Two goals late into the first half by Dominic Calvert-Lewin saw Leeds go into the break 2-0 up. Leeds drastically needed a win after finding themselves fighting just outside of the relegation zone and boy did they bring it. Elland road is always rocking and tonight has been no different. The lads will be hoping that this win will be the start of quite a few more after a strong run of form seeing them pick up points vs both Chelsea and Liverpool.
2-0 Leeds United.

Gyokeres Penalty Splits The Two Sides
Arsenal responded in the perfect way to Manchester City’s earlier win, grabbing a tight 1-0 victory away at Everton to reclaim top spot in the Premier League heading into Christmas. It was the type of gritty performance title challengers need. Not necessarily pretty, but effective. The decisive moment came just before the half-hour mark when a VAR-checked penalty was awarded after Everton defender Jake O’Brien inexplicably handled a corner. Viktor Gyökeres stepped up and buried it with confidence, ending his goal drought and giving Arsenal the lead they’d fight to protect.
In the end, the visitors held firm to take all three points. A result that sees Arsenal back on top of the Premier League table, two points clear of Manchester City heading into the hectic festive schedule
