We've seen more and more Premier League exports heading over to Serie A to ply their trade in recent years, and AS Roma are looking to dip into the market again as they search for a striker in the coming transfer window.
With Brighton loanee Evan Ferguson, Artem Dovbyk and Paulo Dybala struggling for form, consistent minutes and fitness (for the latter two), Roma's commendable 4th-placed standing in Serie A this season is in need of a bolster to head into a higher gear. As such, two targets have been identified out of the Premier League as the Romans look to revamp their attacking options available.

The first target for Roma, and the striker deemed as being the first name on their shopping list is struggling Manchester United forward Joshua Zirkzee.
Frederic Massara, sporting director for the club, recently travelled to London to meet with several agents - amongst them was the Netherlands striker's representative, Kia Joorabchian. The ownership of Roma have authorised talks to commence with The Red Devils, and it is expected that further contact and talks will get underway as we head towards the winter window.

Zirkzee set Manchester United back a costly €42m back in the summer of 2024 to bring Zirkzee to Old Trafford from Bologna, after the Dutchman netted 12 and assisted six in an impressive campaign, and Ruben Amorim's side are looking to recoup that money with profit - they are asking for €50m to secure his services in Rome, which is deemed as too costly by them. As such, the club are looking into a deal involving a loan with an obligation to buy at the tune of €35m, as per Il Messaggero.
In light of the cost, the clock is ticking on a decision on whether or not Roma will go for number one target Zirkzee, who has only started three Premier League games this season and scored once, or whether they will pursue their alternative Premier League target. If they want Zirkzee, they are expected to face competition from fellow English top-flight sides Leeds United and West Ham United. Although, they are expected to hold the cards in that potential battle, with Zirkzee not keen on a move to either club.
The alternative target identified by Roma from the Premier League to help their striking issues is Bissau-Guinean frontman Beto, currently plying his trade with Everton, as per La Gazzetta dello Sport.
After two consecutive double-digit goalscoring seasons in Serie A with Udinese, Beto made the jump to the Premier League with The Toffees back in 2023. He had a quiet debut season, scoring only five goals in all competitions but then improved with 12 in all competitions the season after. Now amidst his third season on Merseyside, the 6'4 forward has again struggled for form with just one goal in seven Premier League starts (16 overall appearances) this term with new arrival Thierno Barry ahead of him in the pecking order (though he is also struggling for goals).

With Everton hoisting only Beto and Barry as their out-and-out striking options, Roma are interested in a proposal that would see struggling striker Artem Dovbyk head the other way and join Everton in a straight-swap deal. The Ukrainian striker joined Roma in red-hot form after netting 24 goals and providing seven assists in the 23/24 campaign for La Liga side Girona, but has had a more lukewarm return in Serie A since his 2024 arrival - he has scored 19 goals and assisted five more in his 49 appearances in all competitions for Roma.
With Roma looking to inject a fresh face into their attacking ranks and not keen on a Dovbyk with two goals to his name this season, Gasperini and his side are looking into the possibility of Beto joining the club. He likely wouldn't be the first name on the team sheet if he did join, with the club reportedly remaining patient in the talents of Evan Ferguson.
