The glossing term of 'greatest game of all time' rears it's head all too often, but two sides down in the EFL both rode out true classics on Saturday afternoon to put on two of the finest showcases seen in the league on the same day.
Cardiff City, of League One, and Salford City, of League Two, both secured wins in stoppage time today in two EFL classics.
One team was ahead for most of the game before winning, whilst the other had to stage a dramatic comeback for the three points.
The Bluebirds faced relegation-threatened Doncaster Rovers, and fell behind early on to a 15th minute Owen Bailey goal.
Cardiff then turned the game on its head through strikes from Omari Kellyman and Cian Ashford, before a Brandon Hanlan response in the 42nd minute sent the sides in level at the break.
Yousef Salech and Harry Clifton then traded goals for either side, which meant the teams were heading for a draw as they entered seven additional minutes.
Two minutes over the time added on, Joel Bagan came up with the decisive winner to punish a poor parry by goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala.
Efforts from Harry Anderson, Ellis Iandolo and Arthur Read had the visitors 3-1 up after 55 minutes and looking good for a result.
However, Adebola Oluwo got one back only four minutes later to put the cats amongst the pigeons once more.
All five substitutions were made by manager Karl Robinson a minute before Oluwo's goal, and momentum was suddenly on their side, with half an hour left for them to get back level.
One of those substitutes, ex-Chelsea, Liverpool and Sunderland forward Fabio Borini, converted a penalty to equalise and give the club owned by Project 92 Limited, made up of former Manchester United legends, a great chance to win the match.
Then, after 18 minutes in which the Salford hopes of a winner were starting to fade, former Evertonian Luke Garbutt was layed the ball just inside the penalty area on the left, before he swung a left boot at it and saw it fly into the far corner.
The win for Cardiff means they keep their four-point cushion after Bradford also won their game, otherwise they would have only been two points ahead.
Salford's push for promotion continues with them in sixth place rather than the 10th place a loss would have got them.
They are also only six points behind Walsall at the top of the table, and four off both Notts County and Swindon Town in second and third.
