The 2024/25 UEFA Champions League season is officially underway and we have already seen the British sides undefeated and causing chaos for other European sides by scoring goals galore in the new Champions League league phase.

Here is a more in depth look at all the British sides competing in this seasons Champions League and their history of top goal scorers in the biggest club competition in world football:

Mohammad Salah (Liverpool) - 42 goals

Mohammad Salah has scored 42 Champions League goals and has won the Champions League on one occasion with the Reds in 2019 as the Egyptian converted a penalty against Tottenham Hotspur in Madrid. Salah is Liverpool’s all time top goalscorer for Liverpool in the Champions League and currently sits in 3rd in the clubs all time top goal scorers in all competition.

The 32 year old shows no sign of slowing down and will look to add to his tally this season and is already in great form after winning Liverpool’s August Player Of The Month award, despite this season being rumoured to be his last at Anfield.

Sergio Aguero (Manchester City) - 39 goals

Arguably Manchester City’s biggest legend. Sergio Aguero lit Manchester up in blue lights throughout his 10 year tenure at the Etihad. Aguero picked up 260 goals for the Blues and became the clubs all time top goal scorer in every competition.

Aguero was a part of the losing side in the 2021 Champions League final against Chelsea and had unfortunately left Manchester City prior to their Treble winning season in 2023. The Argentine’s best goal scoring campaigns in the Champions League came in the 13/14, 14/15 and 18/19 season where the bagsman collected 6 goals that season.

Thierry Henry (Arsenal) - 35 goals

Thierry ‘Titi’ Henry, One of the best to grace England and one of the best to touch European football. Henry still remains the undoubtable best player to ever put on a Gunners shirt in history. The Frenchman bagged 35 Champions League goals over his period in North London, and overall in his career, scored 15 for the likes of Barcelona, Monaco and Juventus.

The former Arsenal captain was unable to win the Champions League with the club, the best he finished was runners up in the 2005/06 final where his side lost to his eventual next team, Barcelona, in France.

Gary Shaw (Aston Villa) - 6 goals

Aston Villa legend, Gary Shaw sadly passed away the day before their long awaited 42 year return to Champions League football. Shaw was the starting striker in Villa’s 1-0 over Bayern Munich when the side won the European Cup Final - now known as the UEFA Champions League. Aston Villa players and manager Unai Emery dedicated their 3-0 against BSC Young Boys on Tuesday after the former striker's passing.

Only 6 goals but a vital player in a period of dominance from the Midlands club which is a staple in the clubs history and something that fans will never forget.

Chris Sutton (Celtic) - 6 goals

Former English striker in the English and Scottish first division, Chris Sutton is a name that a lot of football fans will remember for his contribution to Celtic during his time at The Celts. Scoring 6 goals in the Champions League, Sutton had also bagged a further 6 in Champions League qualification to help Celtic get into the group stage of the competition, where they are now regulars on an annual basis.

Celtic had their biggest ever win in the Champions League on Wednesday night as they overcame Slovakian side Slovan Bratislava 5-1 at home.
