Football is back after a two week International Break and so here at Football Park we’re giving you a great tip for this Serie A clash between Atalanta and Fiorentina.
Atalanta have not started the season in the way they would like to intend, beginning with their loss to Real Madrid in the UEFA Super Cup. They turned that around in their opening match of the 2024/25 Serie A campaign, defeating Lecce 0-4 away from home and in style. However, the two matches that followed resulted in a total of zero points, losing to Torino and Inter Milan, 2-1 and 4-0 respectively.
Despite struggling the last two games, there are explanations. Pivotal midfielder Teun Koopmeiners has since left the club in the summer transfer window, moving to fellow UEFA Champions League spot rivals Juventus. Atalanta’s star striker last year Gianluca Scamacca picked up a cruciate ligament injury during preseason and up and coming centre back Giorgio Scalvani is still recovering from his cruciate ligament injury.
La Dea have recruited well this summer in an effort to replace those who are either injured or have left the club. Charles De Ketelare is now at the club permanently after a loan spell the previous season. Young striker Mateo Retegui is doing a decent job at filling in for Scamacca, already scoring three goals in three matches so far. Defensively and Atalanta have added Ben Godfrey, Odilon Kossounou, Ibrahim Sulemana and Raoul Bellanova to try and help keep as many clean sheets as possible.
With neither a win nor loss to their name, Fiorentina currently sit in 11th place in Serie A after picking up three draws from their first three opening games. Kicking off the season was a 1-1 draw against newly promoted side Parma. Matchday 2 and that consisted of another draw against a side that has just made the jump up in Venezia, this time the match finishing goalless. Their most recent match ended 2-2 after 90 minutes, Fiorentina and Monza unable to claim victory.
La Viola have managed to find the back of the net seven times in their last five matches something that could help them in this match but in those five matches, they haven’t been able to win. History shows that Fiorentina beat Atalanta twice domestically last season, a 3-2 victory in both games. It was a different story in the Coppa Italia though as last season they were matched up against Atalanta in the Semi-Final but lost both legs.
Fiorentina have quietly had a good summer transfer window of business. They have brought in Moise Kean who still has an abundance of potential, Albert Gudmundsson another player that could turn great, the loan signing of Edoardo Bove, a massively talented midfielder and finally free agent David De Gea, a goalkeeper that was one of the best in the world at some point. Including others, these signings could be a factor in helping them achieve their first win of the season.
Our betting experts have gone with Atalanta To Win. This will be the first home game of the season for Atalanta and that will play a big part in giving them an advantage against a team that hasn’t managed to win a game so far.
