3 Players Who Could Leave The Premier League This Summer
The Euros might have shifted the attention of football fans for now but in less than ten days, the European transfer window opens as clubs vie for new reinforcements while players consider their future.
The Premier League remains arguably the most active and attractive market for players to secure big-money moves but every season, several of them lose their places in their respective teams due to the extensive competition.
In this article we will take a look at 3 players who could leave the Premier League this summer:
1) Raphael Varane
Manchester United announced Raphael Varane's departure last month, and the world-class defender might struggle to find a move to a new English top-flight side this summer.
The 31-year-old is one of the best defenders of this generation and has won a host of accolades when he played with Real Madrid.
Since joining United in the summer of 2021-22, he has received two titles under his name — the EFL Cup in 2022-23 and the F.A. Cup in 2023-24.
Varane still has some years of football left in him and he is yet to indicate anything about his future. Certainly, some Premier League clubs like Chelsea, and Tottenham could add him to their line-up as they need defensive stars but the Frenchman is predicted to head back to his home country. He started his career at Lens and a transfer to his childhood side is on the cards.

2) Emerson Royal
After rejecting a £20 million bid from Saudi Arabian outfits Al-Nassr during the January transfer window, Tottenham Hotspur now find themselves in an unusual situation regarding the future of Emerson Royal. The Brazilian has reportedly announced to the club that he is unsettled at the moment and is pushing for a transfer this summer.
The former Barcelona right-back is not content with Spurs’ project and wants to try a new experience elsewhere. A return to La Liga seems unlikely as very few of the Spanish clubs would go forward to materialise a high-value move this window.
The interest is firm from Serie A as Milan have established some preliminary contacts with Emerson’s entourage and Tottenham to understand the economic value of a potential transfer. The Rossoneri are expected to lose Alessandro Florenzi this summer due to an earlier fallout in his relationship with new manager Paulo Fonseca. Recent reports suggest that club captain Davide Calabria could too leave now as Milan aim for a revolution in defence.
If any of these players leave, the Diavolo are expected to make a confident effort to seal Emerson. The key for them would be to lower the price tag from the £20 million valuation by Al-Nassr.

Not an easy one as Monaco want more than €40m fee, but Spurs appreciate him.

3) Romelu Lukaku
One of the most dramatic transfer sagas is set to be staged this summer as Romelu Lukaku searches for a new club and Chelsea aim to get the full amount of £38 million from his sale.
The Belgian is away playing for his national side in the Euros but his entourage remains active in finding a club for him. Saudi Arabian clubs have knocked on The Blues’ door for the 31-year-old striker but he has stalled the offer due to a recent interest from Napoli.
The Partenopei are looking for a Victor Osimhen replacement and have eyed up Lukaku even though they have to dig deep in their coffers to materialise the transfer. Lukaku has established himself as one of the best attacking forces in Serie A after his performances with Inter Milan and Roma. Naturally, a few other Italian clubs are on the lookout for him.
Chelsea would want to offload him off to the Middle East as clubs like Al-Hilal and Al-Nassr could pay the full release clause while European outfits would negotiate for a lower price. Lukaku’s future is now in his own hands to decide but one thing is clear that he will not be playing in the Premier League next season.
