While the GOAT debate on the pitch rages on, it's pretty fair to say that Ronaldo is one of the most marketable athletes of all time.
In fact, he has become one of very few athletes to have a net worth of over £1 billion, joining the likes of Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods. This achievement saw him become the first billionaire footballer, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index.
This doesn't come as too much of a surprise, given his inconceivably high salary at Saudi Pro League side Al Nassr, which is reported to be £172 million per season.
I don't know about you, but I'm pretty envious just writing this.
Ronaldo revealed in yet another interview with Piers Morgan that he was hoping to hit the milestone and did so at the ripe age of 39.
In the very same interview, he revealed that he has lost count of his total number of luxury cars in his extensive collection, but estimates the number to be around 42. Just a few then, Cristiano. Speaking about his collection, he said:
"It's like buying a painting. I’m not going to drive that car; it’s an investment. I don’t know how many cars I have; I don’t count.”
Cars certainly aren't the only means of transportation that Ronaldo has spent a pretty penny on.
This time last year, he made a purchase that he described as his most expensive yet. He dropped an absolute fortune on a new private jet, which he could use for travel on matchdays and for luxury.

So let's have a look at it, shall we?
He made the switch to his new mode of transport in December 2024, buying the Bombardier Global Express G650, an aircraft that is estimated to be worth between £57 and £61 million, according to SportBible.
It's safe to say it's a decent bit of kit at that price and is capable of flying up to 7,500 nautical miles without refuelling, which is about 18 hours of non-stop airtime. That means he could fly from London to Sao Paulo without stopping, or from Manchester to Riyadh and back, without the need to refuel. Mental.
As you can imagine, it's ridiculously fast and is regarded as one of the quickest private jets available for purchase. Powered by two Rolls-Royce engines, the jet can reach speeds of up to around 611 miles per hour, which is almost 100 mph quicker than a Boeing 737.
Unfortunately for Ronaldo, he wasn't able to enjoy his flashy new purchase for a little while after buying it. The plane wasn't fit to fly when it came into his possession and was kept at Manchester Airport while it received necessary repairs to a cracked window.
This sparked somewhat of a media frenzy at the time, as his plane had been spotted next to the aircraft that was carrying the Manchester City squad to their European away days at the time. Of course, resulting rumours that carried no weight were bandied around but were squashed pretty quickly and never gathered any traction.
Obviously the cost of the jet is staggering, but the maintenance and fuel costs are eye-watering as well. The estimated annual budget of the jet flying for 200 hours per year, provided no unexpected costs come up, is an astounding £1,396,612.
If he were to fly for 400 hours per year instead, that cost would rise to £2,248,021, according to LibertyJet, a group that sells luxury private jets.
One of the main reasons for Ronaldo's upgrade in private jet was to accommodate for his growing family, so ensuring his new one could comfortably fit enough people was understandably a massive priority.
The G650 seems to have answered his prayers, as the interior is customisable upon renovation to fit a varying amount of people in.
He opted to include a vast amount of luxury facilities on board, including a fully operational kitchen, 4k TVs and three living spaces. Despite that, the jet can still accommodate 14 seated passengers and five spaces to sleep in. It won't come as much surprise that the G650 is considered to also be one of the most comfortable private jets on the market, which I suppose goes some way in justifying its obscene price.
This exact plane in particular is about 15 years old now, but it was refurbished last year when the Al Nassr star decided to buy it.
It now dons a custom paint job all over the exterior, including a silhouette of his iconic celebration and his nickname, CR7, on the side.

Ronaldo joined an exclusive list of about 500 people who also own this model, some of whom have also shelled out extra to customise their and make it more personal. Actor Mark Wahlberg and musical legend Elton John are another two with personalised exteriors on their planes.
Out with the old, in with the new.
The old, in this case, being the Gulfstream G200 EC-KBC, Ronaldo's first private jet that he bought back in 2015. The top speed of this plane was 560mph and was capable of travelling 3,600 nautical miles, according to Simple Flying. Now this number is still pretty impressive but clocks in at almost half of the capability of his new jet, which really demonstrates just how crazy the G650 is.
The G200, which had a value of about £17 million according to Forbes, was refurbished in 2019, but it seemed that CR7 had a different flying experience that opened his eyes to the potential of a flashy upgrade.
In the spring of the same year, he was part of a footballing tour of Asia, in which he travelled around the continent in a Gulfstream G550, which also had a custom Nike livery to really add a bit of prestige.
Alongside the obvious case of meeting the needs of his expanding family, it's understandable to imagine that this momentary improvement in air travel helped to inspire the upgrade he went through with five years later. Funnily enough, his new jet is even better than the one he got to trial in Asia, so his patience appears to have paid off.
Cristiano Ronaldo's ridiculously flashy private jet serves to remind us of the incredible success he has had, both on the football pitch and in the commercial aspect of his life, proving his prestige at all times.
Perhaps it's a nice little form of motivation for us to look up to, to hope to achieve even just a little bit of that. Perhaps it's a telltale sign of how much money has flowed into football in the last two decades.
Either way, it's easy on the eyes.
