As the half 5 kick off this match week we saw Chelsea face West Ham in a match that you would expect Chelsea to have a routine victory. It was anything but that.
The match started off with Chelsea on the back foot as Aaron Wan-Bissaka shrugged of Alejandro Garnacho before playing the ball to Jarrod Bowen who looked to cross the ball into the box. It looked like Pablo had met the ball and that’s what Robert Sanchez thought. However, he couldn’t get any contact on the ball. It didn’t need that touch as its ball would curl into the back post past a helpless Sanchez.
Chelsea really struggled to get into the game and West Ham had all the momentum and this would be shown in the 36th minute. Wan-Bissaka would put another ball across into the Chelsea box where Crysencio Summerville would peel away from Malo Gusto and smash the ball past Sanchez for 2-0 West Ham. Chelsea would look to try and get one back before halftime, however, they couldn’t do anything West Ham was dominating the blues in their home stadium.
Referee Anthony Taylor would blow for halftime, and the Chelsea fans thoughts were made very well aware as the blues would be booed off the pitch. However, it didn’t end there as it was reported that both Robert Sanchez and Trevoh Chalobah got into arguments with angry Chelsea fans when walking into the tunnel. It was well known Chelsea had to make changes, and those changes were made at halftime.

The second half starts, and the statists was shown that showed just how much danger Chelsea was in when going into this second half. Chelsea had never won a Premier League match where they had been trailing 2-0 at half time. Liam Rosenior needed to do something to change that. That something was bringing off Benoit Badiashile, Alejandro Garnacho, and Jorrel Hato. They would be replaced by Wesley Fofana, Marc Cucurellaa, and red-hot Joao Pedro.
Chelsea came out straight away. They were looking to come back and do something that they had never done before in the Premier League winning a match when they went into half time 2-0 down. It took just 12 minutes before Chelsea pulled one back. Wesley Fofana would drive up the pitch before putting a ball into the box where Joao Pedro would nod it home to make it 2-1.
13 minutes later Chelsea had the goal that put them level. Pedro Neto would put a ball into the box where it would go towards the back post. Malo Gusto kept the ball alive managing to nod the ball across the box where Liam Delap would challenge Max Killman. Killman would win the areal battle and push the ball onto the crossbar. However, Marc Cucurella was the first to react after the ball bounced back into the 6-yard box. He would drive down getting his head onto the ball to make it 2-2.

It was starting to look like Chelsea could do it. They might actually be able to break that record and actually win a match after going 2-0 down at halftime. However, the hopes looked to die down as the clock ticked into the 90th minute. There would be 5 minutes add on, and Chelsea were probing, looking for something anything. After a late score where Todibo hit the post after a free kick. However, in the 92nd minute Palmer would find Caicedo in a pocket of space who sees the run of Joao Pedro. Pedro would play a back hill type of pass into Enzo Fernandez. He took the ball and hit it first time. Bending the shot around the defenders in front of him, and past Alphonse Areola. They had done it. Finally, Chelsea had completed something they had never done before. Win a game they trailed at halftime 2-0.

However, that was far from the end of the match. West Ham would look to try and make something, anything happen. Adama Traore would have the ball on the right wing and would look to drive to the byline. Cucurella would manage to take the ball out for a corner. Something clearly happened that annoyed Adama Traore as he would shove away Cucurella and then everything happened.
As soon as that happened Joao Pedro would sprint over and shove Traore before every player would come over and join the maul that had started. It took several minutes before it was finally calmed down. However, there was a lot that happened, and VAR had a lot of work ahead of them to look at. The main culprit was West Ham defender Jean-Clair Todibo. He was caught running over and grabbing Joao Pedro by the throat. VAR had a look at this and as expected they sent Taylor straight to the monitor. After a short look the choice was clear. Todibo would be given a straight red and would be given his marching orders. West Ham had their corner, and nothing came from it. Taylor would blow his whistle and end the match. Chelsea could finally say they completed a comeback after going 2-0 at halftime.

Well as we can expect his ban will be a minimum of 3 matches. Seeing a straight red card for violent conduct has that as a punishment. However, based on what he did, could we see a longer ban then just those 3 matches. While it was very much a purpose attempt and clear violent conduct, it doesn’t look like the ban will be made any longer. It seems that the normal 3 match ban will be put in place. Therefore, Todibo will miss the next 3 West Ham matches including Burnley, Manchester United, and Burton in the FA Cup.
