The curtains are closed for Oliver Glasner and his remarkable showing at Crystal Palace. The Austrian has announced that he will not put pen to paper on a new contract, so what is next for the Eagles?
Safe to say that Glasner and Palace Chairman Steve Parish have had their ups and downs in recent times. From FA Cup trophy celebrations to public outings for not providing adequate financial support in the summer window, their relationship remains an integral factor surrounding Glasner's future with the club. Regardless, the 51-year-old has made the most of the tools that he has to play with this season and to good effect as Crystal Palace currently sits fifth in the Premier League. A system with few flaws, a centre-back that has threatened to leave for seasons on end, and a midfielder that wouldn't look out of place in the Real Madrid side. Glasner and the South London side have had it all. Parish has been very complimentary of the manager in the past, pointing out his mentality and ability to elevate his side.
🗣️ Glasner: I remember the first meeting. I had dinner with Parish, and I said to him, "If you are happy with Crystal Palace playing 11th to 15th—just not getting relegated—look for another manager. I'm the wrong one." pic.twitter.com/3d4Ufd2FMV

The accolades tell you that Glasner has performed wonders during his time at the club. The first FA Cup trophy in the club's history, followed by a first FA Community Shield title in a period of pure vibrancy and joy for the Crystal Palace faithful. He departs the club as the side's most prestigious manager, a statement that would look good on any CV as the list of clubs lining up for his services is expected to pile up in the months ahead. The most persistent of these links has been with Manchester United, fans still not sold on Ruben Amorim, and it is clear to see why they would favor a manager with proven Premier League success. Glasner has shown that he is capable of performing miracles and even TheUnitedStrand may be able to visit a barber under his rumored managerial reign.
Silly, silly record as the manager of Crystal Palace FC.

Crystal Palace are rumored to have a replacement lined up at the expiration of Glasner's contract at the end of the season. The name floating around is José Bordalás, currently managing the LaLiga side Getafe. The Spanish side currently sits 10th in the division, and he is known for his low possession but high effectiveness style of football. This would appear to uphold the Eagles' strengths on the transition, subject to half of their team not being swooped away when the summer window opens as anticipated. The likes of Marc Guehi and Daniel Munoz have both been heavily linked with moves away, so it will be intriguing to see what Bordalás has to work with if he is brought to the club.
