Harvey Elliot's deadline day loan move to Aston Villa has been far from a success. The Englishman was looking to leave Liverpool in search of having a more important role in a high level squad. This has not happened so far at Aston Villa as the player already looks out of favour in Emery's side.
Elliot hasn't been included in either of Villa's last two games, with it seeming more and more likely that the loan signing was not a choice by Emery himself but someone in the staff. This deal has an obligation to buy included which only needs Harvey to play 10 games for Aston Villa, however with him not even being included in the matchday squad on multiple occasions, some people are speculating whether Emery is looking to let this deal run down without the obligation, as he may believe the 35 million pound deal is not worth it for the player. Harvey Elliot would need to feature five more times for this deal to be activated.

Liverpool could look to recall him from the loan in the New Year, but this would only be possible if Elliot doesn't play in five more fixtures before then. Elliot reluctantly left Liverpool in the search for more game time for the sake of his career. He is a boyhood Liverpool fan who would've loved to become a regular starter at the club however the 22 year old was not in Arne Slot's plans going into his second season in charge of Liverpool. Elliot didn't feature regularly for Liverpool last season but did have some big moments like his winner vs PSG away last season for example.
Why did we sign Harvey Elliot on deadline day?

What was the point?
Good enough to be scoring winners away at PSG last season, but can’t get a look in for us. Not one minute against GAE.
Seems a total waste of time. #AVFC

He has shown that he has a lot of talent in many Premier League and European games for Liverpool, it is a waste of his abundance of talent for him to not be playing week in week out. He barely started a single game for Aston Villa yet in his first three months at the club. Emiliano Buendia's resurgence into the Aston Villa starting XI doesn't help his chances as the Argentinian has been one of Villa's best players this season, scoring and assisting 6 times so far this season.
Harvey Elliot certainly will have an interesting few months where a lot could happen. He just has to keep training hard in the hope that he can break into the Aston Villa squad and stake a claim for his position. If this doesn't happen, he may have to either settle for being a squad player at yet another club, or potentially have another move away in search of playing time. Liverpool may look to recall him for a few reason in January. They may look to ship him off to a different club in order to guarantee so money for the player. Another angle that Liverpool may take is recalling him to feature again for Liverpool after January. Liverpool haven't been anywhere near the level that they were at last season so there is always the chance that he could make a positive impact.
Mohamed Salah is due to play in the AFCON in the January period, so depending on injuries that Liverpool may have in that period, Liverpool may look to recall Harvey Elliot so that he can slot into the winger position in which he has done multiple times for Liverpool in the past. If this happened this could give him a huge change to completely turn the direction of his career around, as if he managed to make a huge impact at Liverpool, Slot may look to keep him and involve him back into the Dutchman's plan's. This is quite unlikely, but in football, anything is possible. This is a hot topic for Liverpool fans, with a major split in opinions, some would welcome the winger back into Liverpool, whereas others think he isn't good enough to play for the club.

Personally, as a Liverpool fan, I believe that he has the talent to perform for Liverpool in a system that suits him. I don't believe that he is made to be a winger but more as a number 10. If Liverpool were to utilise him in this position I think his potential is very high, however with the signing of Wirtz, as well as Szoboslai's form this season there is little chance that Slot would pick him to play over the array of talent he already has in this position. So for that reason I think that it is best for his own career that he find minutes elsewhere. We will see whether that is at Aston Villa.
