United Eye a New Midfielder As Bournemouth Star Catches There Eyes

As we move closer to the January transfer window, we start to see names linked to clubs and some clubs in particular. It is very well known that United are looking at signing a new midfielder to replace the aging Casemiro. While they have been linked with several players such as Adam Wharton and Elliot Anderson, a new name has emerged as a potential transfer. This new name is Bournemouth’s Tyler Adams.

Adams has been at Bournemouth for just over 2 seasons now after joining from Leeds in 2023 and he could be looking to make a move to one of the big six. However, this wouldn’t be the first time his named is linked to one of the big 6 clubs as he almost found himself at Chelsea the season he joined Bournemouth.

So Why Sign Adams?

Adams is a very strong defensive midfielder someone who will be strong in a tackle and reads the game very well. This has been shown this season where he has performed 35 tackles this season putting him in the top 10 percentiles for tackles in the league, add onto this his 21 interceptions and 61 recoveries you can see his strong defensive ability. This is something that United have lacked as while they have the progressive player in Bruno Fernandes in the pivot, they have lacked the anchor to keep the defensive area safe. However, with Adams, you have this. His work rate would also add something to this United midfield as at times they have struggled to have that high work rate and consistent pressing. Adams would add this to their midfield.

What are the Negatives?

As much as he is an incredible defensive midfielder and will add someone who can just sit in front of the United defence and help them, his output and ability to go forward is very limited. He isn’t a midfielder who will add to any of the attacking ability United has as he often doesn’t go that high up the pitch and doesn’t often get into positions where he can shoot. To add onto this, he isn’t someone who will carry the ball up the pitch and would rather try to link the play with passing over driving with the ball. To add onto this, he has a very long injury history that could issues with him being able to play consistently however, he hasn’t faced that yet this season.

What is the Overall View?

Overall, he would be a good option for United as he is cheaper than a lot of the other players that they have been looking at with options such as Anderson or Baleba costing around 100 million to land their signatures. While he is older than them, being 26, he would still be a very strong option and someone they could get well over 5 years from. He would fit them as his main focus would be defending, the part of the game he is best at, and it would free up Bruno to go forward more. While there isn’t a set price, yet he is considered more affordable, so United fans would you want him?
