There tends to be a pretty high overlap between people who are fans of football and those who are also fans of the WWE.
When it comes to the superstars in the WWE, this is also the truth, with the majority of the major stars having all expressed they have a favourite team in the sport.
The question then becomes, who do they support and, in many cases, why? I mean, these are often American superstars, after all, so how do they come to support some of the sides that they do?
If you've ever found yourself wondering, 'Hey, I wonder who Triple H supports?' Or maybe 'Who does John Cena watch on a weekend?' Then you're in luck, as here are some of the biggest stars in the WWE and the clubs that they follow.
It pains me to say it as an Arsenal fan and boyhood John Cena fan; however, he is in fact, a fan of Tottenham Hotspur... or at least everyone's fairly sure that he is.
He's never actually publicly expressed his support for any particular club in football however there is a famous photo from all the way back in 2008 of the leader of the 'Cenation' with the famous lilywhite of Spurs.
Seeing as he has never worn the shirt of any other club we can only conclude that he probably supports Spurs, however I at least will never fully believe until I hear the words from the man himself. I just refuse to believe it's true.
Never forget when John Cena visited Tottenham's White Hart Lane during WWE's UK tour in 2008 👊 pic.twitter.com/eqQbi7FF3F

Triple H, or to use his real name, Paul Levesque, is one of the most widely recognised WWE Superstars of all time; his iconic entrances and partnership with Shawn Michaels as a part of D-Generation X will be imprinted into the memory of everyone who watched him.
With that said, Levesque has actually publicly expressed support for a football team, and it's a bit of a shock as to who. That's right, it's West Ham United. Yeah, I'm just as confused.
He has self-professed that he doesn't really know or understand the sport, but that hasn't stopped him from falling in love with the side.

Irish superstar Finn Balor may not be as well known of a name to any of the older WWE fans, as he's one of the more modern stars, becoming known as the 'Prince of NXT'.
If I were to guess, I would imagine he just loved Robbie Keane as a child because why else would you willingly put yourself through supporting Tottenham.
That said, we can't knock him as a fan; Finn frequently posts about the club and has been spotted watching the club live multiple times.

There's yet another West Ham fan on this list, and I promise WWE Superstars are allowed to support clubs other than just West Ham and Tottenham. With that said, yes, Batista followed in the footsteps of Triple H and also supports 'The Irons'.
'The Beast' has been spotted at West Ham matches before and has, in fact stated on the West Ham social media pages that he loves the club.

Back to the diehard fans in this list we have another Irish Superstar in Sheamus, who finally breaks the spell of just Spurs and West Ham and is in fact a Liverpool fan.
'The Celtic Warrior' is an inarguable superfan of the Reds and has been for his whole life; he often posts about the club on his social media accounts and goes to games when schedules permit him, and he was even in Madrid to watch the club lift the Champions League trophy.
It’s a Liverpool thing. You wouldn’t understand. 👊🏻 pic.twitter.com/qCcamvQ5MN

Austrian superstar and 'ring general' Gunther has a mixed allegiance when it comes to football; however, he has more recently been stated by fellow WWE superstar Wade Barrett as supporting German side Schalke.
Gunther grew up supporting hometown club SK Rapid Wien, it has been said, so this is where the split allegiance comes from, but either way, he does love football, and in fairness, he would hardly be the first football fan to have mixed allegiance in the sport.
Gunther saying this as a Schalke Fan in Dortmund is insane btw

Dortmund fans HATE Schalke more than anything

Ok, now for perhaps the clearest and biggest fan of his respective club, and that is Scottish native Drew McIntyre, who seemingly cannot stop bringing up that he supports Glasgow club Rangers.
If he's not seen wearing the famous blue of the club, he's posting about them on his social media accounts and has been known to try and wind up Celtic fans when the Old Firm Derby rolls around.

'Stone Cold' Steve Austin supports Bolton Wanderers; that is almost certainly a sentence I never expected to have said at any point in my life. However, it is the truth; he really does.
During an appearance on Soccer AM back in 2009, Austin drew the club out of a hat and declared his support for the club on the spot.
At least that's what he says; personally, I can picture him sitting back with a few beers and watching old Jay-Jay Okocha highlights and falling in love with the club that way, but either way, he is on record as having claimed support for Bolton.

Following the trend of highly confusing clubs to support, we next have Shawn Michaels, 'The Heartbreak Kid', who somehow ended up supporting Blackburn Rovers.
I'd like to clarify this is not an insult to Blackburn, but even fans of the club must ask, 'How on earth did this come about?'
Funnily enough, he actually did a promo back in the 90s talking about the side and his support of them, so there is video evidence of 'HBK' being a Blackburn fan.

The final inclusion on this list is yet another surprising entry, and it's Mick Foley who supports Sheffield United.
It all came about when Billy Sharp, who was playing for the Blades at the time, did the 'Mr Socko' celebration in 2019; what followed was the pair having breakfast together at Sharp's house and Foley pledging his allegiance as a fan of the side.
What a story 🙌🏻😂

Mick Foley has been to the Sharp household for breakfast this morning!
