Much-loved American sports comedy Ted Lasso utilises Selhurst Park as the stadium for fictional football side AFC Richmond in the show. The famous Crystal Palace ground takes on a touch of CGI magic to turn it into Richmond's home, Nelson Road, with the majority of in-game footage from the show being shot there.

This move was taken due to both expenses and difficulty involved in making CGI stadium scenes look realistic. Instead, Apple TV's boffins shot in-game scenes at the Palace stadium, and then used a smaller amount of CGI to alter the ground enough to be unique to Richmond.
And the show even adds an extra layer of immersion: Nelson Road Stadium’s nickname is given as the dog track, which is a reference to the Selhurst Park's true past, and the club’s nickname is “The Greyhounds”, another ode to the same history.
While the football club may be fictional, Richmond itself is a real place, located in Eastern London on the shores of the River Thames. It sits just two kilometres south of real-life Premier League side Brentford.
However, a different ground was needed for training scenes - fortunately, another club was happy to provide a realistic location for filming.
Richmond’s training facility, which in reality is called Beaconsfield Road, is the actual home ground of Southern League Premier Division side Hayes and Yeading United FC.
Outside of on-field scenes, Ted Lasso shoots in various locations around Richmond, adding to the immersive nature of the popular show, which is now filming for season 4 as we speak, to the delight of many fans.
Though Apple TV+ Ted Lasso is an American conception, and studded with a host of American stars including Jason Sudeikis, the show itself is shot in England, where the show is hosted.
Sudeikis’ character Ted Lasso, a coach whose sole experience comes in American Football, is shockingly announced as the new manager of fictional AFC Richmond, as the club owner, played by British star Hannah Waddingham, attempts to run it into the ground.
