Coventry Have Bid Rejected For Villads Nielsen

Coventry have had a bid for Bodo/Glimt centre-back Villads Nielsen turned down by the Norwegian club.

Nielsen has already played in this season's Champions League qualifiers for Bodo/Glimt and also featured in last season's run to the Europa League semi-finals.

Now, the club have rejected the Sky Blues' offer as they went him to play a big role in their upcoming Champions League campaign.

Nielsen's Potential

The 20-year-old has already played 34 times since joining the Norwegian side a little over a year ago, and their desire to keep him shows how highly valued he is for them despite his young age.

Standing at 6ft 4in, the Dane is an imposing figure that not only brings aerial prowess to defend his goal, he also adds a threat in the opposing box.

He has also been capped seven times for the Danish under-20 team after making 14 and one appearance for the under-19s and under-18s respectively.

Coventry Need a Centre-Back

Frank Lampard's side have only three centre-backs at the club in Liam Kitching, Bobby Thomas and Joel Latibeaudiere.

Kicthing and Thomas are 6ft 1in whilst Latibeaudiere is 5ft 10in, meaning they lack height at the back and all three of Derby's goals against Coventry two weeks ago came from Lampard's side being unable to deal with balls into the box, hence why the Sky Blues have targeted Nielsen to plug this hole.

Football Park brought you news that Coventry had seen a bid rejected for Ipswich's Luke Woolfenden, and that deal is back on following Bodo/Glimt's reluctancy to part ways with Nielsen.

Woolfenden is also 6ft 4in, however at 26-years-old, he is ready to come in and perform at his peak now rather than bring value to the future.
