Despite all the doom and gloom surrounding Selhurst Park after the news that manager Oliver Glasner is increasingly likely to leave the club in the near future, the January transfer window provides a lift.
It provides the chance for the Eagles to bring in necessary reinforcements in a bid to help them maintain their momentum, with their form in the first half of the season enough to place them fifth after 16 games, two points away from the Champions League places.

Crystal Palace are interested in Rayan and have already made first contact with the player.
They want to start negotiations right away, with the plan to take him only after the 2026 World Cup.

It is no surprise that Palace fans are glum about the prospect of Glasner leaving, but the club being linked to Vasco da Gama star Rayan will certainly buoy the mood around south London.
It is a mark of how far Crystal Palace have come since promotion in 2013 that they are being heavily linked with one of the Brazilian Serie A’s most sought-after players - the right-winger has 20 goals in 56 games this season despite his tender age of 19, the sort of figures that have previously seen the likes of Chelsea, Real Madrid and Barcelona all make high-profile moves.
Rayan has hit another level this season - he scored just twice in 33 games last year, meaning his tally for the current campaign is a remarkable ten times that of last.
However, his rapid rise means that he will come at a cost. Vasco da Gama clearly saw that Rayan had the potential to reach the very top, and given the increased quantity of top European clubs dipping into the Brazilian top flight for a high-quality, low-value move, have slapped a whopping €80 million release clause into his contract.
🇧🇷 One of the big European clubs will snap up an absolute gem in Rayan in 2026.

Only 19-years-old and he’s scored 20 goals for Vasco da Gama this season.
An incredibly technical player. He’s a striker who can play as an RW as well.
Fantastic left-foot. He’s a strong build… pic.twitter.com/HIxG4WFRfQ
Having lost both Michael Olise and Ebere Eze in the last two seasons, Palace have struggled to replace their star players with high-quality creative options; although Ismaila Sarr and Daichi Kamada are doing a commendable job of filling these roles, they don’t bring the wow factor their predecessors exhibited on a weekly basis.
Rayan has the potential to change all that - blessed with electric pace, fearless dribbling, and surprising aerial prowess, he is only just starting to show what he can do, and whether he goes to the Eagles or not, we will no doubt see him grace the stage in one of Europe’s top five leagues in the near future.
If they are to get ahold of him, Palace will need to move quickly - Porto are also in the mix, and another unnamed club made a verbal offer of €25 million. While that sum certainly wasn’t going to cut it, it certainly shows that we are not the only side circling. Keep an eye on this one.
