Experienced World Cup Semi-Finalist an Everton Target

Everton Pursue Morocco Striker to Address Goalscoring Issues

Despite sitting comfortably mid-table in 12th place, Everton still have plenty of issues to address if they are to progress under David Moyes.

While summer signings Jack Grealish and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall have been revelations on Merseyside, the strike pairing of summer arrival Thierno Barry and Beto have flattered to deceive, netting just six goals between them since the start of the campaign.

As such, Moyes has been keeping a close eye on the transfer market, and in recent days has made Morocco and Fenerbahçe striker Youssef En-Nesyri a top priority.

A Long-Awaited Solution?

As English fans, we hear precious little about En-Nesyri - the rangy striker only seems to pop up every four years at the World Cup, or whenever he is pitched against Arsenal, an opponent against which he very rarely fires blanks.

However, over the years, the 28-year-old has in fact been linked with a raft of Premier League clubs, including Arsenal, West Ham and Tottenham. With 154 career goals to his name and a tall physical frame, it is easy to see why he is a Premier League target, as his style, build and positioning fit the division's style of play perfectly.

However, so far in his career, En-Nesyri has not made it to the Premier League, instead playing out the majority of his career in Spain, where he played for Malaga, Leganes and Sevilla, before signing for Turkish giants Fenerbahçe in the summer of 2024.

He truly announced himself to the world at the 2022 World Cup, where he became the figurehead of Morocco’s fairytale run to the semi-finals, where he scored twice and constantly caused problems for some of the best defenders in the world.

He is currently bang in form - coming into the 2025/26 crusade with 30 goals to his name from the previous campaign, the Moroccan has netted a respectable eight goals already this season, enough to put him joint eighth in the Golden Boot standings.

While he is the perfect candidate to end Everton’s striker problem, they won’t have it all their own way, as Nottingham Forest have also joined the race for the forward.

However, as of right now, Everton are the only side to have submitted an official bid for him, requesting that they acquire the marksman on loan with a €20 million option to buy should the Moroccan take well to the Premier League.

The deal is made easier by the fact that Fenerbahçe are open to discussions, and are happy to be rid of him on either a permanent or loan move. With the promise of €20 million in the future if he performs as expected, very few Turkish clubs would turn down a deal like that.
