Key Scotland defender John Souttar has secured his future at Ibrox after signing a new contract at Rangers, until the summer of 2027.
The 29-year-old was out-of-contract at Ibrox heading into the summer, after making 127 appearances for the club after signing a pre-contract from Hearts in 2022, but has secured his short-team future for another 12 months with the Scottish Premiership title pushers.
Rangers also have an option to extend his contract for a further 12 months, which would take the 21 timed capped Scotland defender to the summer of 2028.
Souttar's new contract will be a welcome boost to Rangers head coach Danny Röhl, as it stands the club only have four signed defenders going into the 2026/27 season; with the Rangers captain James Tavernier's contract currently on course to expire in the summer and Max Aarons, Nasser Djiga, Derek Cornelius and Jayden Meghoma are all on-loan at the club. However there is a clause in Cornelius' contract to make the deal permanent if Rangers would wish to pursuit with a deal for the Marseille defender.
A new deal will also be a boost for Souttar himself as he would be able to head into the Summer's World Cup with Scotland without the worry of his club future on the cards.
