Birmingham City are not messing around this transfer window. Looking to repair the damage done by their seven-game winless run throughout December and early January, the Blues are looking to bring in some hungry, fresh talent in a bid to provide impetus for a charge back up the Championship table.
Already targeting Newcastle midfielder Alfie Harrison and superb Gambia and Mjallby talent Abdoulie Manneh, the Blues are not done there, and are looking to add extra firepower to their attacking ranks before January is done.

Their search for stability at the base of midfield has led them to the brink of signing Girona talent Jhon Solis, who himself is looking for a move away from the Spanish top flight in search of more minutes.
Aged 21, the signing of the Colombian Solis would represent yet another Birmingham City signing with the long-term future in mind. With one of the highest average squad ages in the Championship this season, Chris Davies has clearly implemented a new focus on youthful recruits.
This is reflected by their interest in both Harrison (20) and Manneh (21), and with Solis now earmarked as the next player through the door, it is clear that there is a youth-focused motion in place at St Andrews.
Despite his tender age, Solis already has 62 Girona appearances to his name, and while many of these have come off the bench, the sheer number of appearances indicates that the Girona hierarchy think highly of him, and have been willing to give him first-team experience time and again.
Operating as a central defensive midfielder, Solis’ 186 cm frame makes him a fearsome adversary to face up against in the middle of the park, and his long legs and excellent positioning make him supremely difficult to pass.
Rumoured to have been offered a three-year deal by the Midlands club, the move would guarantee him starting minutes that Solis would never have been able to find at Girona, with Axel Witsel, Ivan Martin and Arnau Martinez all ahead of him in the pecking order.

It looks like a deal between the 2 clubs is pretty much a done and the 21 Year Old will have a signed a contact to keep him at the blues until 2028. #kro #bcfc pic.twitter.com/mrST0OCzzU
However, if he is to be used in his best position, the Blues will need to alter their tactical setup - their current 4-2-3-1 formation does not accommodate for a CDM, instead necessitating the use of two central midfielders to contribute both in attack and defence.
However, with a market value of £3.5 million and still in the development phase of his career, Solis looks set to be a long-term project capable of multiplying his value ten-fold, and if tweaking the sides setup helps the Colombian grow into a formidable midfield presence, then Chris Davies won’t think twice.
Despite their 14th-placed positioning, Birmingham are thinking ahead, and have their eyes on eventual promotion to the Premier League. With Abdoulie Manneh also likely arriving on a permanent deal, the Blues could secure two superb talents for the future, players who could accompany the side all the way to the peak of English football.
