Saturday's EFL League Two matches offered up a whole host of game-changing results, outcomes that have left the relegation picture looking more unpredictable than ever after the opening 12 matches of the 2025/26 season.
Out of the four sides relegated down from League One last year, two of them - Crawley Town and Shrewsbury Town - are experiencing severe struggles so far, both sitting just one point above the drop zone, having won two games each.
Furthermore, six teams find themselves within just three points of each other in and around the relegation zone, marking an early situation to keep an eye on as the campaign progresses.
All of these teams also attain similar goal differentials, aside from bottom-placed Cheltenham Town, although their point this weekend away to third-place Gillingham could end up proving a result that saves their season.
Tranmere are the highest of these six teams, three points clear of the drop, although their home defeat to Barnet shows cause for concern for the Rovers, who now find themselves without a league win in seven.
Crawley earned a crucial point at home to league leaders Walsall, as they put an end to a three-match losing run; Shrewsbury, meanwhile, won 2-0 at home to Cambridge, earning two clean sheets in a row as their fortunes are slowly looking up for the Shrews.

The 21st and 22nd-placed sides from last season, Accrington Stanley and Newport County, met in an early relegation six-pointer, where a first-half own goal gave the visiting Welsh side all three points at the Wham Stadium, lifting them off the foot of the table in the process.
Newport face another huge task next weekend as they host last-place Cheltenham, which could end up proving a breaking point in their season.
