Manchester United’s Demands to Loan Out Antony

20/07/24 10:53

According to Tom Victor for The Mirror, who Football Park rate as a tier three source, Manchester United would be open to letting Antony leave on loan should certain demands be met.

The winger joined Manchester United in 2022 for €95 million, but has failed to live up to expectations so far. The 24-year-old has scored 11 goals and provided five assists in his 82 appearances for The Red Devils.

Why would United let Antony leave on loan?

Usually, clubs like United would be reluctant to let assets they spent so much on leave on loan, and would rather recoup some of their investment as soon as possible. However, Antony’s stock has dropped so abruptly that it’s unlikely any club would use their transfer budget for him.

However, Antony was once a highly sought after player, and a club could be convinced to purchase him if he had a successful loan spell somewhere.

With Manchester United now pursuing a move for Euros star Xavi Simons, they would need to reduce their wage bill to avoid a high earner sitting on the bench.

What are Manchester United’s terms?

The Red Devils would allow Antony to depart on loan, should a club cover his entire wages.

With demand for Antony already low, it’s unlikely that clubs will be willing to cover the entirety of his £70,000 a week wages. Club’s that could afford that would be unlikely to take the chance on Antony, and the clubs that may benefit from his signature would struggle to afford such wages.

Should some negotiations be allowed, I could imagine a club outside of Europe’s elite would take a gamble on the Brazilian.
