Saturday 13th April Accumulator

12/04/24 10:55

We’ve handpicked seven teams for Saturday’s games at odds of around 18/1, and here is why we think they are the best value shouts to win:

Atletico Madrid To Win vs Girona

This is a huge match-up between La Liga’s third-placed Girona, and fourth-placed Atletico Madrid, a side who, if they're not careful, could lose their Champions League qualification spot to in-form Athletic Bilbao. Girona’s incredible start to the season has come to an end, and they are no longer title contenders, but are comfortable in their Champions League spot.

Atletico must win this game to take a step further into safety of qualification, and their home record backs up their likelihood to do this. They have won 20 out of their last 23 home matches in all competitions, and Girona have really suffered on the road of late, losing their last 4 consecutive away matches. With Girona sitting more comfortably in the table, and Simeone’s men having more to play for, we’re backing Atletico.

Bologna To Win vs Monza

Thiago Motta's Bologna team are in fourth position, and have 7 games left to maintain their 3-point lead over AS Roma to secure Champions League qualification. At home, Bologna are the second-best team in Serie A behind only Inter. Bologna have accumulated 38 from a possible 48 points at home so far, as Stadio Renato Dall'Ara has become an unlikely fortress.

Bologna's home form across the season has been impeccable. Only AC Milan and Inter have defeated them, and they have won 14 out of their last 17 home games. More recently, Bologna have defeated Salernitana 3-0, Verona 2-0, Fiorentina 2-0, Lecce 4-0 and Atalanta 1-0. We are going with Bologna to win.

Swansea To Win vs Rotherham

This Championship season has been a horror show for Rotherham, who are already relegated with a points total of just 23 after 42 games. Swansea secured their safety in their last match, winning 3-0 against Stoke City at home.

Swansea have won 3 out of their last 4 games at Swansea.com Stadium, and Rotherham have not won away in the league all season, accumulating just 4 points in 21 away games. They have lost their last 7 consecutive away bouts. Swansea is a straight-forward addition to our accumulator.

Lincoln City To Win vs Wigan Athletic

Lincoln’s surge up the table in the second-half of the season under boss Michael Skubala has been heroic, they are the most in-form and dangerous looking side in League One, now with a real chance of getting into the play-offs. The Imps are just two points off a play-off spot, and winning this game against Wigan will mean everything. At home recently, Lincoln are unbeaten in 9, winning 6 of these games, which include 5-0, 6-0 and 3-0 score lines.

Wigan have nothing to play for now in the third tier, and their form is always very mixed. They have only won one away game from their last six, so we are going with a Lincoln win.

Derby County To Win vs Leyton Orient

Every single game is crucial for Derby County in the final run-in. They are facing Bolton Wanderers in a one-on-one shootout for automatic promotion, and despite having a two-point lead, Bolton are the team with an extra game. Leyton Orient have had a great season under Richie Wellens, but now not playing for anything, and being away from home, Derby will be a tough task with the motivation they have to return to the Championship.

Derby have won their last 4 consecutive home matches, and Orient, despite having a decent away record this season, have won just 2 from their last 5 on the road, most recently losing out 1-0 to Lincoln City. We are going with the promotion chasing Derby in this one.

Wrexham To Win vs Forest Green Rovers

It looks as if Forest Green will face relegation this season after a managerial merry-go-round and some horrid results. With three tough games left, they are three points away from safety. Whilst this will spur them on, they face the mighty Wrexham on Saturday, a side that in front of a home crowd, could seal promotion to League One with a win in this fixture.

Wrexham are the best home team in the league this season, accumulating 48 points from 21 home matches. They have won 8 out the last 11 home matches including a recent 4-1 win over Crawley Town, who are the most in-form team on the road in 2024 across the entire EFL.

Forest Green have picked up a few plucky away wins over the last two months, but ultimately they tend to struggle on the road, and the test of Wrexham should prove much too tough.

Celtic To Win vs St Mirren

This is quite a straight-forward accumulator addition for us. Celtic must win to keep their top spot over fierce rivals Rangers. The Bhoys have won 7 out of their last 8 home matches, with score lines including a 7-1 win over Dundee, and their most recent game against St Johnstone ending 3-1. Whilst fifth-placed St Mirren are no mugs, they have nothing left to play for, and for Celtic, this game is crucial. Celtic have convincingly won their last 3 matches against St Mirren, and we are backing them to do the same on Saturday.
