League Two is a true proving ground for young talent. Often the first place a top-flight side will loan a young prospect out to, it is very much a sink-or-swim environment: succeed, and they will likely work their way up the EFL pyramid; fail, and they will likely stay in and around that division for their whole careers.
We have seen it countless times before - if a Premier League loanee thrives in the English fourth division, they typically end up playing in the Championship, and sometimes even the Premier League shortly after.
Preston and Leyton Orient are among a host of clubs eyeing January moves for Swindon Town’s Aston Villa loanee Finley Munroe. The 20-year-old has been a standout performer for Swindon since joining the League Two club on loan last summer. #PNE #lofc #stfc #AVFC pic.twitter.com/1w9r1gn755

That is exactly the case facing Aston Villa youth Finley Munroe, whose excellent form for Swindon Town has seen him come under increasing interest from a number of England's more illustrious clubs, according to Pete O'Rourke.
An attacking left back by trade, Munroe’s loan move to Swindon at the start of the campaign represented the opportunity to bag his first reliable minutes in the lower divisions of his home country. He played 24 times for Spanish side Real Union in the Spanish third division last year, but prior to that, his only senior experience had come in two games for Villa - one in the Premier League and one in the Conference League.
However, Munroe has taken to League Two like a duck to water - in 23 games, he has notched two goals and six assists, placing him joint fifth on the goal creation standings, and his energetic, all-action performances have drawn the eye of both League One and Championship clubs.
Blackburn Rovers, Leyton Orient and Preston North End have all officially registered their interest, and given Munroe’s domination of League Two, a move up the football pyramid only seems like a natural next step.
Blackburn are looking to plug the gap left by Ryan Hedges’ ankle injury, while Leyton Orient are attempting to arrest a catastrophic drop-off in form which sees them lie just a point above the League One relegation zone.
Like Blackburn, Preston are also going through something of a left wing-back injury crisis, with both Robbie Brady and Andrija Vukcevic out until at least the end of this month, and despite his lack of high-level experience, Munroe appears the perfect candidate to bring some youth and vigour to the lineup.

Aged just 20, Munroe has plenty of time to develop his game, and going by his output this season, his ceiling looks to be extremely high. While all three interested parties would likely only sign the Englishman on a loan deal, they will certainly be tempted to insert an option-to-buy clause if the loan ends up being a success.
Multiple European clubs have also taken an interest in the League Two star, but so far remain unnamed, meaning that Preston, Blackburn and Leyton Orient are the only outfits with concrete interest in the youngster.
