Why is everyone obsessed with Chido Obi-Martin?

Manchester United set to steal Arsenal youngster

According to Fabrizio Romano, whom Football Park ranks as a tier one source, Manchester United have set their sights on closing the deal for Arsenal academy star Chido Obi-Martin.

Who is Chido Obi-Martin?

Obi-Martin is a Danish International, 16 years of age and plays in the striker position. He is very tall for his age measuring at 188cm and there’s no stopping another growth spurt. His physical presence and hold up play have become a handful for defenders from different divisions to deal with.

In terms of playing at international level he has not decided because his allegiance can lie in England, Nigeria or stick with Denmark. He recently played in Denmark under 17s for their European Championship qualifiers and scored twice in three group stage games.

At the age of 14, joined the famous Arsenal Academy called Hale End in 2022 where the likes of Bukayo Saka, Ashley Cole and Nicolas Anelka came through.

So far, he has excelled in the various age groups under 16s under 18s and under 21s which grabbed Arsenal Manager, Mikel Arteta’s attention and invited the teenager for a few first team sessions.

Why are so many European clubs chasing his signature?

According to David Ornstein, who Football Park ranks as a tier one source, Obi-Martin visited Manchester United’s training ground Carrington this week.

Other clubs interested in the Dane wonder kid are Bayern Munich, Newcastle United, Monaco and Frankfurt. However, Manchester City pulled out from the race.

One of his standout moments that interested these clubs was in Arsenal Under 18s 14-3 win against Liverpool last November. He scored just 10 goals past Liverpool at the age of 15 which is crazy.

Chido ended the Premier League under 18’s season scoring whopping 29 goals in 17 games. Majority of his goals has shown the athleticism and brushing easily off defenders with his broad frame.

One of Obi-Martin's main attributes are his quick dribbling in tight spaces surrounded by many players and his sharp eye for goal.

His playing style draws comparisons to the Newcastle striker Alexander Isak. Whoever gets this exciting kid are prizing a gem on their hands, excluding injuries and his willingness to develop further, there is no doubt Obi Martin can reach the very top.
