When people think about Joshua Kimmich, they think about Bayern Munich and vice versa. The midfielder has been with the club since 2015 and has established himself as a lead player.

Now, after nine seasons with the German record champions, Kimmich is likely to leave the club this summer and not extend his contract.

According to Sky Sport Germany, who Football Park rate as a tier one in terms of reliability, Bayern are open to selling the 29-year-old this summer.

He still has a contract until 2025 and is ready to stay with Bayern until then and become a free agent afterwards but apparently both sides agree that a transfer this summer is also possible.

Who has Joshua Kimmich been linked to?

In the past couple of months, Kimmich has been linked to other big clubs like Arsenal, Liverpool and Manchester City but according to Transfermarkt, a move to Saudi Club Al-Ahli SFC could also be next for the German international.

Currently Kimmich is focused to perform on a high level with the German national team, who will be fighting for coming first in the group stage of the 2024 Euro today.

The midfielder is a leader on and off the pitch for Munich but has played an equally important part for the national team since his debut in 2016.

Why is Joshua Kimmich leaving Bayern Munich?

Just recently, German TV programme ZDF released a documentary about him and one of the main topics that is being talked about, is his vaccination scandal in 2020.

Back then, Kimmich decided not to get vaccinated against Covid-19 and has been heavily criticized for his decision from the public but also his own club, who have, according to Kimmich, stopped paying him for that reason.

Under pressure, he did eventually get vaccinated in 2021 but in the documentary he said: “I have felt left alone with the situation for too long.

”I realized how the club reacted and therefore I felt disappointed.”

Despite the drama, he extended his contract in 2021. “Regardless, this feeling of trust that I had towards the club before has, of course, been destroyed”, he concluded on the topic.

Knowing this background information, it is to no surprise that Kimmich wants to explore otherwise and with his talent and technique he should not have troubles finding a new club.

He is a very flexible player as he can play as a defensive and central midfielder, as well as playing the right-back position. For both Germany and Bayern, he is an expert on all three positions and therefore has the ability to play three positions equally as well, which a club can only profit from.

As of now, no official announcements or talks with any other clubs have been done yet but most likely
