Will It Be ‘Hasta La Vista’ For Miguel Almiron This Summer?

30-year-old Newcastle winger, Miguel Almiron, is being linked with a transfer, which according to The Chronicle, which Football Park rate as a tier 3 for reliability, “ holds the key to ‘unlocking’ Newcastle United’s transfer spend this summer’’.

The Paraguayan international, turned down a move to the Saudi Pro League in January, but may also push for a move as he was used mostly as a substitute for the second half of the season.

Newcastle will be hoping that he can play a starring role for his country this summer in Copa America in order to boost his transfer fee, which currently stands at around £20 Million.

Here we will look at potential destinations for the Magpies winger.

Is a Premier League stay on the cards?

Almiron, who joined Newcastle on deadline day in January 2019, could feel he is settled in England, and therefore may consider a move to another Premier League team.

This would hurt the Newcastle fan base as the Paraguayan was instrumental in getting them into the Champions League, scoring 11 goals in the 2022-2023 season.

Leicester and Ipswich, who will play Premier League football next season, may consider a move for the winger, who on his day, can be one of the leagues most lethal wingers.

Crystal palace could also be an option for Almiron if, as expected, they lose their star winger, Michael Olise.

Al-Shabab to return for the winger?

Saudi Pro League team, Al-Shabab are expected to return with an offer for Almiron this summer.

The winger rejected a move in January to fight for his Newcastle place, but the Magpies know a sale to Saudi would most likely generate the highest fee.

Would he even be interested in the move, is a question I’m sure will be answered in the coming months.

MLS return. Dream for Almiron, Nightmare for Newcastle?

A move to the MLS, according to Chronicle Live’s Newcastle United Editor Aaron Stokes, who Football Park rate as tier three for reliability, would be the only move Almiron would push for.

The winger played for Atalanta United between January 2017-January 2019, and a return to America would be the option that Almiron believes would be best for him.

Newcastle know that any fee from an MLS team would be significantly less than the other options, given that the highest fee paid by an MLS team was around £12.5 million for Argentinian Thiago Almada.

One thing that we do know is, this summer is most likely to be a big one for Miguel Almiron.
