Crazy Accumulator Tips | Free Europa League Acca Guide | 29/01/26 | Football Park’s Best Bets

On Thursday evening, at eight o’ clock in Birmingham, nine o’clock in Basel, and ten o’clock in Bucharest, all 36 Europa League teams will kick off at the same time.

Only the bottom six are officially eliminated, and the top two guaranteed a spot in the round of 16, leaving UEFA’s second tier competition as open as ever.

To recap, last week’s round seven fixtures were full of narrative bending action. Which includes Brann’s spirited 3-3 draw with high flying Midtjylland in the depths of Norway, PAOK’s shock second half strikes in their 2-0 win against Real Betis, and Nice as well as Ranger’s first three points of the campaign (finally).

There are three points between 6th-placed Roma and 15th-placed Bologna, and three points between 21st-placed Lille and 30th-placed Go Ahead Eagles. Such fine margins mean that is well and truly all to play for, and extremely unpredictable.

Thankfully, Football Park are here to help guide you through Thursday evening’s manic few hours on the continent. Giving you top tips and calculated words of advice regarding this rollercoaster of a matchday from Belgrade to Bačka Topola.

The Battle of Basel

The final fixtures of the 2025/26 League Phase leaves us with plenty of fixtures that resonate two sides of a coin. Lining up at one end of the St-Jakob Park are a Basel side that simply must win to stand a chance of making it into the round of 16 play-ins.

In the other corner are a Plzen side who have already qualified for the play-ins, but placed in 17th are far far from the glorious top eight. This divide between the teams intentions might just result in quite the goal-fest in North West Switzerland.

All eyes will be on national hero, Xherdan Shaqiri, who has accumulated 14 goals this season, four of those in European competition. A talisman up top, Shaqiri is playing some of the best football of his career, despite entering his mid-30s, and is a huge fan favourite with the home crowd.

Viktoria are without their star man going forward, after parting ways with Pisa-bound Rafiu Durosinmi halfway through the Czech 1.Liga season. The Nigerian striker scored 13 in the first segment of the 2025/26 campaign.

Desperately looking to replace his goals, Plzen are averaging one goal per game in the Europa League thus far, rarely finding the back of the net more than once in Europe. That hasn’t stopped the Eastern European side from picking up results against Freiburg, Roma, Fenerbahce, and Porto.

Both Teams to Score makes sense for this fixture, as it doesn’t involve predicting the final outcome of a match that is generally hard to call. RotBlau will not fall easily to a team stronger on paper.

The Return of Scottish Dominance

Already laboured by an intense three horse title race domestically. Celtic and Rangers finally look to have settled into what has been a challenging season for both, especially the former.

Last week’s Europa fixtures saw Rangers pick up their first win of what has been a torrid European campaign full of embarassments. This run, which has seen the Scottish giants eliminated from the competition already, includes losses to Brann, Sturm Graz, and Ferencvaros.

An away fixture in Porto, on paper was one of the toughest fixtures on their schedule, but this is a Rangers team who have won eight on the bounce under Danny Rohl, keeping five clean sheets in a row along the way.

The Portuguese Dragons have shown weakness in Europe since November struck. Losing to Forest, and drawing with lowly ranked Utrecht and Viktoria Plzen. The Iberian outfit also have the pressure of needing a win to qualify automatically for the round of 16.

Rangers on the other hand, have nothing to play for, except for an improved UEFA ranking which could have implications on their route to Champions League football next season. We often see teams produce fruitful form when weight is taken off their shoulders, which is perhaps what happened against Ludogrets last week. So why can’t the Glaswegians get a result in Portugal this Thursday?

Celtic, on the other hand, must win to ensure their round of 16 play-in spot is guaranteed. Fortunately, Martin O’Neil’s men face Utrecht, who have a singular point from seven Europa League fixtures, and have lost five straight games.

Under the Paradise lights, against extremely weak opposition, this is a must-win for the Bhoys which should be straightforward. In fact, Celtic - who have won 10 and lost one of their 13 matches under O’Neil this season - are expected to dominante, and win both halves of this fixture.

Palaver at the Parc Olympique

PAOK’s first ever trip to face Lyon is set to be the match of the day for one simple reason. Only Midtjylland have outscored the Greek and French pair, as PAOK have 15 goals, and Lyon have 14 in seven games.

The hosts are top of the tree, and have already qualified for the round of 16, meaning the pressure is completely off. The visitors have booked a spot in the play-ins, and are outsiders to finish in the top eight, far beyond their expectations before a ball was kicked in the Europa League this season.

Expect goals from Endrick, who has taken to life on loan in France like a duck to water with four goals in his opening three fixtures for Les Gones. However the Dikefalos have their own attacking threat leading the line in the shape of Georgios Giakoumakis, who has five goal contributions in seven Europa League games.

The Northern Greeks have already visited France once this season, beating Lille in a dramatic 4-3 win, and coming off the back of victory against Spanish side Real Betis, they should bring the boom of their explosive football and passionate fanbase to France’s third largest city.

Bologna to Bulldose in Bačka

Israeli clubs have agreed to play their European football in Serbia this season, which explains why the backdrop for this fixture is the TSC Arena. It comes as no surprise that Tel Aviv have struggled in the Europa League, playing every fixture away from home. As a result, the Yellows lie bottom of the rankings with a single point and -19 goal difference to their name. The Israeli Champions’ season gets worse as it appears their back-to-back title streak is coming to an end.

Bologna themselves cannot boast better form, the Red and Blues have one win in their last 11 fixtures dating back to early November. It appears this match has arrived at the right team, presenting itself as a chance for the Bologna boys to regain their confidence before their Serie A and Europa League rankings slip any lower.

Maccabi Tel Aviv have conceded 12 goals in their last three fixtures in Serbia, and as they are already down and out, this meeting can surely only go one way, that being a strong victory to nil for the visitors.
