Key talking points from the weekend include Plymouth Argyle's continued resurgence and Doncaster and Wigan playing out a thriller, though there is little time to dwell on past proceedings in the EFL
Doncaster and Leyton Orient headline a full list of fixtures in the division tomorrow evening, and we are right to expect goals in that one. Meanwhile, league leaders Cardiff host mid-table Barnsley, with The Tykes proving that they aren't afraid to go toe-to-toe with the big guns already this campaign.

Doncaster threw away a three-goal lead as they were held by Wigan Athletic over the weekend. Defensive issues have been a significant concern for the home side in this campaign, conceding just shy of two goals per game in League Two this season. Key personnel in the attacking ranks, including Luke Molyneux, have helped to steady the ship, while skipper Owen Bailey leads the scoring charts (8) despite occupying a more defensive role for his side this season.
Meanwhile, Leyton Orient were defeated away at high-flying Bolton Wanderers on the weekend. They have been led by the goals of Dominic Ballard, the striker who is the top scorer in League One with 15 goals in 20 league starts. The O's have failed to keep a clean sheet in 11 attempts, so it's safe to say that neither of these sides can be credited for their defensive resilience . That said, we are siding with a BTTS bet for this fixture, with our in-house tipster having 81.70% confidence in this selection.
Plymouth Argyle and Mansfield Town, two teams in strong form , are expected to bring the entertainment. The home side has won three straight league matches, scoring five goals and conceding none. For a team that was sitting bottom of the division not so long ago, Argyle now has an outside playoff shout, going from strength to strength under Tom Cleverley. Plymouth has managed five wins at Home Park this season, three of these coming over the December-January period.
Meanwhile, Mansfield Town have won five of their last six matches, including a shock FA Cup victory over Sheffield United. Nigel Clough's side has scored 12 goals in their last five matches, including impressive victories at Bolton and Bradford in League One. Plymouth played out a 3-1 victory at Home Park the last time the two sides met, though Mansfield was victorious in the reverse fixture in September. We are siding with a narrow win for the hosts but would not be surprised to see goals for both sides tomorrow night.
Lincoln City looks a strong shout for automatic promotion, boasting a nine-game unbeaten streak . They defeated Burton Albion at home last time out, improving their record to 10 wins in 14 matches at the LNER Stadium. They last suffered defeat here in the league in October, courtesy of a stoppage-time winner from EFL legend Kevin McDonald.
The brakes seem to have been firmly applied at Bradford City. A side that was hanging around the automatic promotion spots not so long ago is now looking over their shoulder at the chasing pack in hot pursuit. The Bantams remain 4th in the division yet have suffered consecutive defeats to Cardiff and Huddersfield, putting a dent in their promotion hopes. Bradford comes here with a credible away record, having taken 17 points from a possible 39. The test of Lincoln may prove to be a step too far for Graham Alexander's side, with the head-to-head record heavily favoring Lincoln City.
Bolton and Burton could turn out to be an interesting fixture despite the disparity between the two sides in the league standings. The home side got back to winning ways over the weekend, a statement we are used to seeing at the Toughsheet Community Stadium. They have scored 28 goals in 14 league matches, aiming to finally get over the final hurdle in their quest for a Championship return.
Meanwhile, Burton Albion finds themselves in yet another relegation battle. A tale of fortunes on the final day and great escapes has surrounded the club in previous campaigns, though they have proven capable of pulling some shock results out of the bag. The Brewers defeated their opposition 3-0 in the reverse fixture in October, as well as winning three of the last seven meetings between the two on their travels. We are expecting this to be closer than many people would think, and history proves that we are right to expect goals between the two sides. We are siding with an Over 2.5 Goals bet, with our in-house tipster having 55% confidence in the selection.
