AC Milan Preview

Formation: 4-2-3-1

AC Milan Predicted Line-Up: Mike Maignan (c); Theo Hernández, Strahinja Pavlović, Malick Thiaw, Álex Jiménez; Youssouf Fofana, Tijani Reijnders; Rafael Leão, João Félix, Christian Pulisic; Santiago Gimenez

AC Milan were forced to play rescheduled fixture against Bologna on Thursday after the original game was postponed due to adverse weather conditions. They headed into the game level on points, both aiming to reach the European places. It did not go their way however, making that loss number seven from the 26 Serie A games they’ve participated in so far. Alongside those seven defeats have been 11 wins and eight draws, leaving Milan with 41 points and residing in eighth place in the table. That tally has them three points away from the UEFA Conference League qualification spot, but it will be the UEFA Champions League places where AC Milan will want to achieve.

I Rossoneri haven’t lost three games on the bounce in two years so they will need to step it up in this huge match against Lazio. Winger Christian Pulisic has 12 goal involvements under his belt, split equally into six goals and six assists. He might have had his penalty attempt saved versus Torino two games ago but his is still a dependable player to have as someone who could make the difference. Rafael Leão and Tijani Reijnders fall not too far behind with 11 and 10 contributions respectively so any one of the three could play their part in getting AC Milan all three points this Sunday.

Lazio Preview

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Lazio Predicted Line-Up: Ivan Provedel, Nuno Tavares, Samuel Gigot, Mario Gila, Manuel Lazzari; Nicolò Rovella, Mattéo Guendouzi; Mattia Zaccagni (c), Pedro, Gustav Isaksen; Boulaye Dia

Lazio have only managed on win on the road in their last 34 meetings with AC Milan in the Serie A, losing a total of 22 matches in that time. That win at the San Siro came all the way back in November of 2019 but given the good run of form they have been in; it seems like they have a chance to amend that streak. The race for European football is starting to heat up with Lazio occupying fifth place after 26 games, 14 wins, seven losses and five draws. Those results have left them with 47 points, currently confirming them for the UEFA Europa League next season whilst still participating in this year’s edition at the moment.

Le Aquile have suffered a huge blow with striker Valentín Castellanos out with a thigh injury that could see him unavailable until the middle of March. Before his injury, he was the top scorer at the club this season with nine goals and three assists to his name. Thankfully, Lazio can also rely on club captain Mattia Zaccagni who in the 23 Serie A matches he’s featured, he has amassed 13 goal involvements. Boulaye Dia is the most likely candidate to fill in for Castellanos and with the Senegal international scoring only two less goals, he should fit in like a glove this Sunday.
