The EFL Championship season continues into gameweek thirteen this weekend and on Saturday 2nd November 2024 we are treated to an immense fixture between Blackburn Rovers and Sheffield United at Ewood Park.
This is bound to be an interesting contest towards the upper end of the EFL Championship table.
6th placed Blackburn will look to strengthen their grip on the playoff places while Sheffield United have the potential to climb into the top two - so long as results elsewhere go their way also.
Blackburn Rovers Predicted Lineup - Aynsley Pearce; Owen Beck, Dominic Hyam, Danny Batth, Callum Brittain; Sondre Tronstadt, Lewis Travis; Todd Cantwell, Tyrhys Dolan, Andreas Weimann; Yuki Ohashi
Blackburn currently sit 6th in the table having picked up 19 points from twelve matches. They hold a place in the playoffs as it stands and could easily strengthen their grip on those places with a victory here.
This season they have scored 16 goals so far. This is the joint 5th highest in the division. They have also conceded just twelve goals so far. This is the most in the top six. Conceding a few goals here in this game will be crucial. Especially if they can continue to put the ball in the back of the net themselves.
Sheffield United Predicted Lineup - Michael Cooper; Harrison Burrows, Jack Robinson, Harry Souttar, Alfie Gilchrist; Gustavo Hamer, Vinicius Souza, Oliver Arblaster, Jesurun Rak-Sakyi; Kieffer Moore, Tyrese Campbell
Sheffield United have the chance to break into the top two with results going their way here. They are currently 4th in the league having picked up 22 points in twelve. It has been an impressive start.
They have only scored 14 goals this season. Although this is good it is not outstanding. Where they are most impressive though is the amount they concede. They have only let in six so far this season. This is the second least in the division. Will they continue to concede very few here?
This match is set to be the 155th game between Blackburn and Sheffield United.
It is this weekend’s away side that hold the advantage having picked up 62 wins in that time in comparison to 56 wins for Blackburn. There have also been 36 draws in that time.
Sheffield United have only won six of the last eight games against Sheffield United only tasting two defeats. However Blackburn have won three of the last four games at home against the Blades. Will the same happen here?
19th March 2023 - Sheffield United 3-2 Blackburn Rovers - FA Cup
4th March 2023 - Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Sheffield United - EFL Championship
20th August 2022 - Sheffield United 3-0 Blackburn Rovers - EFL Championship
23rd February 2022 - Sheffield United 1-0 Blackburn Rovers - EFL Championship
6th November 2021 - Blackburn Rovers 3-1 Sheffield United - EFL Championship
This is bound to be a close contest between two good teams. However we can’t help but feel that the hosts, Blackburn Rovers, have a slight advantage coming into this game. They will be keen to win and with the home fans behind them we think they can come away with a victory.
We are backing odds of 15/8 in this game for a Blackburn Rovers Win. These odds mean that £10 has the potential to return up to a possible £28.75 making it our best value pick.
(Odds subject to change)
Blackburn Rovers 1-0 Sheffield United
This will be a close game between two very good sides battling at the top of the table. Blackburn come into this game looking the better of the two sides and with home advantage we think they will scrap a victory.
