Porto get their European campaign underway against Norwegian opposition as they travel north to the small town of Bodo. The former Champions League winners are in the Europa League this season, after finishing third in the Portuguese top division last year.
Bodo/Glimt could have made it into the Champions League this season, but failed during the qualification rounds and ultimately dropped to the Europa League.
Both sides come into the match with similar form. In their last five, both teams have lost just once, but Porto have won four and Bodo/Glimt have won just three.
Bodo/Glimt do have home advantage in this game, and that could come in useful as they have taken 28 out of a possible 36 points from home so far this season.
Predicted Lineup: K. Khaikin, F. Sjovold, V. Nielsen, O. Bjortuft, F. A. Bjorkan, H. Evjen, P. Berg, S. Brunstad Fet, I. Maatta, K. Hogh, J. P. Hauge
Bodo/Glimt will want to get back to winning ways and forget last weekend's result away at Brann in which they lost 4-1. That was the first time that they have lost in the league since the middle of July.
24-year-old Kasper Hogh has scored 10 goals in the league this season in his first year at the club. He has impressed on occasion, but also has gone missing in a few games. He was highly rated in Denmark as he came through the youth ranks, but hasn’t been able to make much of a name for himself yet.
Predicted Lineup: D. Costa, J. Mario, J. Pedro, N. Perez, F. Moura, S. Eustaquio, A. Varela, Pepe, N. Gonzalez, Galeno, S. Omorodion
Porto have lost just once all season, in a 2-0 defeat against current league leaders Sporting. Other than that match, they have conceded just once, but their opposition hasn’t been particularly strong in any of those matches.
20-year-old striker Samu Omorodion has scored three league goals in his first three games for the club after joining from Atletico Madrid. He was brought in to replace Evanilson who joined Bournemouth for £40m in the summer.
Due to their recent rise to prominence, Bodo/Glimt have never met Porto in a competitive fixture before. The Norwegian side won their first league title in 2020 and have played in the lower European competitions since then, while Porto have managed to play in the Champions League on a regular basis.
Porto have the European experience that Bodo/Glimt lack. The Portuguese league is also much more competitive than the Norwegian League, and so Porto have experience playing against tougher opposition.
It is likely that Porto will walk away with three points, but Bodo/Glimt shouldn’t simply be discounted. They have a strong side and will cause problems for the Portuguese side, even if it doesn’t result in a win.
With all of this in mind, our team of professional experts have decided that the best tip for this game is for Porto to Win and BTTS. Odds of 12/5 on Parimatch means that a £10 bet could see a potential return of £34.
(odds subject to change)
Bodo/Glimt 1-3 Porto
Porto will have much of the ball and a large share of the chances, but Bodo/Glimt will pose a threat on the counter attack. The match will likely be close for a long time until Porto manage to break down the Bodo/Glimt defence. After that happens, the game will become more open and Bodo will get their chances, but that will leave them vulnerable.
