Hellas Verona vs Monza

Key Stats

  • Monza haven’t won an away match in their last 9 attempts
  • Hellas Verona have scored 9 goals in their last 5 games whereas Monza have scored 6 in their last 5

Team Previews, Form and Standout Players

Hellas Verona Have had a very average start to the campaign but Monza are in a position fans would not have expected they would currently uphold. They sit comfortably inside the relegation zone with problems scoring and keeping goals from going in the back of their own net.

Both teams are missing players in key areas, but they also can both rely on young talents to help them try and win this match. Casper Tengstedt of Hellas Verona and Daniel Maldini of Monza Look like they could have promising careers and potentially even influence the outcome of this match on Monday.

Hellas Verona Preview

Predicted Line-Up: Lorenzo Montipò; Domagoj Bradarić, Daniele Ghilardi, Giangiacomo Magani, Jackson Tchatchoua; Reda Belahyane, Ondrej Duda; Tomas Suslov, Casper Tengstedt, Darko Lazović (c); Daniel Mosquera

Last year Hellas Verona managed a 13th place finish in the league. This year it is looking likely that they will replicate that feat as after seven games in Serie A, they reside in 12th place. Three wins, four losses at zero draws has left them with nine points. That isn't too bad seeing as high as fourth place side Juventus sit on 13 points. Hellas Verona had a great start to the campaign beating Napoli 3-0 but unfortunately for them, their success took a bit of a dip from then on. They do however come into this match off the back of a win against recently promoted side Venezia, beating them 2-1 thanks to a late own goal winner in the 81st minute.

La Gialloblu have a very long injury list coming into this match with at least six players unable to play. That shouldn't concern them too much as the two players have performed the best so far this season should rightfully still have their place in the starting lineup. Captain Darko Lazović, Casper Tengstedt and Daniel Mosquera have all managed to score manged to score three goals each but it is Mosquera and Lazović that have added an assist to their names as well. They could be players to look out for in Hellas Verona’s aims of victory.

Monza Preview

Predicted Line-Up: Semuel Pizzignacco; Andrea Carboni, Pablo Marí, Armando Izzo; Georgios Kyriakopoulos, Alessandro Bianco, Warren Bondo, Pedro Pereira; Daniel Maldini, Matteo Pessina (c); Milan Djuric

Monza on the other hand, have not had a good start to the season. They have not managed to achieve a win in the opening seven games of the Serie A season. Three losses and four draws has left them with four points and in 19th in the relegation zone. One reason for their defeats could be the fact they have only scored five goals. Milan Djuric and Dany Mota are responsible for two apiece, and the other goal has come from Daniel Maldini.

Similar to Hellas Verona, I Biancorossi also have injury problems. They will be without at least five players, three of which are massively vital in coming back if they want any chance of staying up this season. Those three would be midfielders Roberto Gagliardini, Stefano Sensi and Samuele Vignato. What the Monza fans will have their attention turn to though is the fact that the young Maldini grabbed his first international goal for Italy's senior squad during the UEFA Nations League whilst there was an international break. He could be the difference for Monza if they need energy and changing the score line.

Final Prediction: Hellas Verona vs Monza

Hellas Verona 2-1 Monza

After strong start from Monza inside the first half, we can see maybe Casper Tengstedt getting involved in the goal scoring again and turning the tie around in Hellas Verona’s favour. If not him then one of the other many talented attackers that they have on their roster.
