Scottish Premiership side Rangers kick off their UEFA Europa League campaign looking to recreate their campaign from just a few seasons ago where they reached the final.
However they first have to contend with Swedish side Malmo FF as they travel to the Eleda Stadion on Thursday 26th September 2024.
As expected both teams are currently doing well in their league campaigns - though Rangers will still be disappointed at this stage.
This is bound to be a close encounter with both teams on very even playing fields at the moment.
Predicted Lineup - Johan Dahlin, Stryger Larsen, Pontus Jansson, ColinRosler, Gabriel Busanello, Soren Rieks, Sergio Pena, Lasse Berg Johnsen, Anders Christiansen, Erik Botheim, Isaac Kiese Thelin
As expected Malmo are dominating the Swedish Allsvenskan at the moment. They currently sit on top of the league 11 points clear. Not only this but they have also scored 57 goals and conceded just 19 all season. A superb record.
One man they can thank for that scoring record is Isaac Kiese Thelin who has 14 goals in 20 appearances in the league this season. Can he bring that form into the Europa League campaign?
Predicted Lineup - Jack Butland, James Tavernier, John Souttar, Robin Propper, Jefte, Connor Barron, Mohamed Diomande, Vaclav Cerny, Tom Lawrence, Nedim Bajrami, Cyriel Dessers
Phillipe Clement’s Rangers side haven’t had their most ideal start to the Scottish Premiership season. This despite sitting third in the league and only suffering one loss. This at the hands of bitter rivals and top of the table Celtic
However in recent weeks they have begun to turn things around for themselves having defeated Dundee United and Dundee FC. Something they will look to continue here.
This season their man in form has been Cyriel Dessers who has already managed seven goals in nine games. If anyone is going to score for Rangers in this match it will surely be him.
These sides have faced each other on four occasions previous to this match.
In fact Malmo are unbeaten against Rangers picking up three victories and one draw in those games. Rangers will be hopeful they can change that in this match though.
10th August 2021 - Rangers 1-2 Malmo FF - UEFA Champions League
3rd August 2021 - Malmo FF 2-1 Rangers - UEFA Champions League
3rd August 2011 - Malmo 1-1 Rangers - UEFA Champions League
26th July 2011 - Rangers 0-1 Malmo FF - UEFA Champions League
As previously mentioned, this game is sure to be a close fixture with both sides on very even playing fields coming into this game. Neither side have any real advantage over the other at this point in time.
However if either of the sides claim victory it will be the hosts Malmo in this fixture with them having home advantage.
Our team of professional tipping experts have selected a Half Time/Full Time Draw/Malmo FF tip for this game. And with odds of 5/1, £10 has the potential to return up to £60 in this match.
(Odds subject to change)
Malmo FF 2-1 Rangers
This game will surely be a close contest but which could end in a draw. However Malmo’s home advantage should be helpful and we would expect them to come away with a victory in this match.
