Day 6 of Not Being Paid: Inside The Story of Harvey Bradbury and Havant & Waterlooville

Bradbury Living the I'm A Celeb Lifestyle as the Search for The Missing Payday Continues

With Christmas around the corner, people are desperate for payday to hit and salvage their bank balance before seeing it all disappear again for the inevitable festive shop. That's how it is supposed to work anyway. However, things are a bit different for former Havant & Waterlooville striker Harvey Bradbury, who is still waiting to be paid his earned wages after departing the club in November.

Havant Been Paid

Bradbury has taken to X (formerly Twitter) to voice his displeasure at not receiving a month's worth of wages and hearing radio silence from those involved with the club. The striker departed the Southern Premier Division club in November after making 44 appearances for the side across two spells, returning to The Hawks in summer 2024. For a player that has been involved with the club on two separate occasions, you'd like to think that the board would show their appreciation and provide his wages on time at the very minimum. Instead, Bradbury is giving us diary-style updates as an unpaid worker, seeing the funny side of quite a bizarre situation.

As mentioned, the club has yet to comment on the matter. Meanwhile, growing recognition of the situation has left more and more wanting answers about the inability to pay workers for doing their jobs. The Englishman even shared a picture of himself driving to the club to try and get answers but has not reported having any joy.

You can't help but draw comparisons to former West Brom attacker Peter Odemwingie driving to Loftus Road on deadline day attempting to force a move, to no avail. Bradbury recently hinted at having some sort of evidence relating to the money situation that would get people talking. Whether this is a ploy or not, the Hawks may need to play their cards sooner rather than later before it's checkmate.

A Distasteful Trend

You'd like to think that this situation would be a one-in-a-million occurrence. Think again. Both players and coaching staff formerly associated with Stratford Town have revealed interactions with staff at the club that clearly reveal a refusal to pay wages in full. Perhaps it was quite unfortunate for those at the club to see a tweet outing them receive over four million views...

Whatever level of football, the heights of the Premier League or the proper footy on display in non-league, if there is a contract in place that states an individual will receive a wage, then why are we seeing footballers chasing their money on media platforms? This brings a whole different level to the woke nonsense shouts; let's just hope that this is a trend that does not go viral...

Public Response Intensifies

Many have come together on social media to raise awareness of Bradbury's situation, and I've seen the #PayBradbury being thrown around a few times in recent days. That's not all; I've even seen a comment from someone offering to buy him a takeaway tonight. The power of social media, eh?

Regardless, Bradbury has responded to queries regarding previous fines that have been paid off during his time with the club and has revealed that the PFA (Professional Footballers' Association) is involved and dealing with the matter accordingly. You'd be very naive to assume that everyone online would be rushing to his defence, and we might need to update our own betting tips after seeing this one in the comments.

A Sour Farewell

While both the club and player posted complimentary farewell messages ahead of his move, I wonder if these words would be amended by the latter in the heat of this ongoing saga. Bradbury recorded 28 goal contributions in 44 appearances for the club, including a hat trick in his first game back since a short spell at the club in 2017. A great service to the side overshadowed by poor treatment from those that once catered to him. Instead, many are left anticipating information from Bradbury set to tarnish his ex-employers while making for quality entertainment in doing so. Over to you, Harvey.
