It would be fair to say that Nottingham Forest are having an underwhelming season so far compared to their preseason expectations. However, despite the Reds sitting just five points above the relegation zone, they are continuing to be ambitious in the transfer market. Sean Dyche would like to bolster his front line in order to support Igor Jesus, who has played a lot of games so far this season.
In classic Sean Dyche fashion, the striker that they are looking to bring to the East Midlands is 25-year-old Napoli forward Lorenzo Lucca, who is 6 feet 7 inches in height! It is thought that Lucca would be joining Forest on an initial loan period, with the Premier League club having a buy option in the deal worth in the region of £30 million.

So where does Lucca rank in terms of the tallest strikers in Premier League history?
The Italian forward joined the Hammers in 2022 and scored 3 Premier League goals in 16 appearances. Standing at 196 cm, it gave him a height advantage over many players on the pitch, which helped him win a lot of aerial duels.
One of the few strikers on this list that is currently playing in the Premier League is Jonah Kusi-Asare. On loan at Fulham from Bayern Munich, the young Swedish prospect has made 5 Premier League appearances off the bench so far this season for Marco Silva’s side.
The German giant arrived in the North-East in the summer of 2025 following a £70 million move from VfB Stuttgart. The 23-year-old had big shoes to fill in Eddie Howe’s side following the departure of Alexander Isak; however, he has started off relatively well with 7 goals in 19 Premier League appearances so far this campaign.
The Austrian’s time in the Premier League hasn’t got off to a very good start since his move in 2022 on a 5-year deal. In the past few seasons, he has had a few major injury issues that have prevented him from playing for Wolves very often. In 3 and a half seasons he has only made 31 appearances, so Wolves fans will be hoping he can keep fit and begin scoring goals at the Molineux.

The Nigerian forward joined Southampton in January 2023 but failed to impress in England. He left the club in the summer of 2025 to join Turkish side Trabzonspor, where he has had a good start, scoring 11 goals in 15 league appearances.
If the deal between Napoli and Nottingham Forest goes through this January window, Lorenzo Lucca would find himself in 5th place on this list. You’d imagine this would make Nottingham Forest a threat from set pieces, especially with long throw-ins being such an important part of today’s game.
Maierhofer joined Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2009, where he scored 1 goal in 10 appearances for Mick McCarthy’s side. He was a journeyman throughout his career, playing for 23 clubs along the way. He retired at the age of 41 in the summer of 2023.
The Serbian striker soon became a hero in the West Midlands after his £6 million move from Valencia in 2010. His time in the top flight only lasted one season, as Birmingham were relegated to the Championship, but in that season, he scored the winner in the League Cup final to win Birmingham their first trophy since 1963.
Definitely the most successful striker on this list, Peter Crouch holds the record for the most headed goals in the Premier League – shock! He is without a doubt a Premier League icon, having played 467 games, scoring 106 goals at the highest level. But he had so much more to his game; as for his height, he was extremely technically gifted.

Lacina Traore is the tallest striker to ever play in the Premier League, but he nearly didn’t make the list. His only appearance in the Premier League for Everton came off the bench in the final game of the 2013/14 season. He never lived up to his high potential and ended up being a bit of a journeyman, playing for various clubs in Europe.
