From our research, every single side has the best away fans in the country — but only one can sit at the top of this very serious, highly scientific ranking. We want noise, colour, and a bit of nastiness.
This is bound to ruffle some feathers.
Let’s get into it — from 20th to 1st.
A lovely club, lovely fans, lovely day out — and that’s sort of the problem. The travelling Cottagers are polite, punctual, and passionate in their own quiet way, but if you’re looking for limbs and chaos, you may want to look elsewhere.
Given their size and location, the Cherries must be comended on their away following, but compared to the rest of the league they just do not come close.
We are sure that they are perfectly happy with their life by the seaside, and enjoying watching Antoine Semenyo and co impress week in week out.
So we doubt that this ranking will cause any sleepless nights on the south coast.
If they are facing off against another Midlands club then they are ranked up there with the best.
However for those games up and down the country, the Wolves following lacks that consistent punch to rank them any higher.
Old-school club, proper accents, decent numbers — but the away Clarets seldom take over a stadium.
Hard to hate, but hard to hear.
Brentford’s rise has been meteoric, and they are adored by most. And that friendly vibe often translates to their support. Given their relative small stature it is no surprise that they are this low.
Though we commend their efforts to the get the younger generation interested in following the side home and away.
So who knows, maybe in 10 years time their place on this list may have improved.
Brentford launches Gen10. Their junior fans will pay no more than £10 to watch the Bees away from home and visiting junior fans from other PL clubs will pay the same 🐝🐝⚽️⚽️❤️❤️ https://t.co/t3pqkQt9NR

Brighton are definitely more than just seaside day-trippers. They travel in good numbers, but when ranking an away support we want more than that.
They are too friendly for our liking, and even the M25 derby that they have with Crystal Palace doesn't have the same edge to it as we would like.
CHELSEA, CHELSEA, CHELSEA!!! (On repeat)
For all the money and trophies, Chelsea’s away days are surprisingly subdued. Perhaps due to their West London location, similar to Fulham, they just don't blow teams away with their rapturous following.
However for those big games, they can turn on the noise, it just doesn't happen anywhere near enough.
This may ruffle some feathers among the Gunners, but despite increased efforts in recent years to improve the quality of their support, it still lacks the intensity that they desire.
And they lose marks for the amount of stolen songs that their fans sing.
It is less Football Factory and Green Street vibes nowadays from the Hammers, and they haven't had much to cheer over the last season or two.
But when the team is playing well, you'll often hear passionate cries of "IRONS" from the East End following. Too inconsistent for us.
City fans have had to fight the “empty seats” stereotype for years, but their away support is actually solid. They fill allocations, they travel miles, and often have a lot to cheer about given their sides dominance in recent years.
These are the fans that have been there through the dark days, and now get to enjoy the success.
Good, however, there are better.
Appreciation post for Man City away fans.

Massively disrespected. Massively underrated. pic.twitter.com/9k09kD14Hv
Villa’s away fans are no-nonsense and travel in force. As is often the case with Midlands teams, they really get up for it when they face another side from their own neck of the woods.
However, where they trump Wolves is the sheer number that they travel with, and they leave more of an impact at a stadium than their local rivals.
Spurs’ away following is big and usually sells out, and they don't stop all game.
Admittedly for the last few seasons it has been a lot of "Levy Out", but now they have their wish and the fans are still making plenty of noise. Definitely the best away following in North London.
Spurs' away fans are one of the loudest in Europe. Not just when we're winning. Every game without fail.

Everton's fans are the lifeblood of the club. We know that is an obvious statement, but when they are on form then the team tends to be. And when the boos come out, the players on the pitch can feel the icy chill.
These fans should be commended for their support of their club, and they travel in good numbers and make a racket (when they feel like it).
Forest fans have waited years for Premier League away days again, and they’re making up for lost time. Passionate, loud, and always game for a slagging match with the home fans.
Their storied European history often makes clashes with the likes of Liverpool, Manchester United, Leeds etc have that extra bite to them.
Liverpool’s travelling support is exactly what you’d expect — experienced, boisterous, and fond of reminding everyone how many European Cups they’ve won. They’re not quite as intimidating as in the old days, but when they’re in full voice, it’s still special. You’ll hear “Allez Allez Allez” in your sleep.
We all know that Selhurst Park is one of the most atmospheric stadiums in the league, and their away following is not too far behind.
They don't stop singing for the whole 90 minutes, and with their recent successes, the support has gone up a notch.
Love them or loathe them, United’s away fans are elite. They sell out everywhere and make a racket.
People can moan all they like about the atmosphere at Old Trafford with its tourist influx, and leaky roof. But the same cannot be said about United on the road, even with all of their drab recent showings, you'll still hear the away following.
Simply the best away fans in the country🇾🇪👍🏻 pic.twitter.com/ydI4VMH8Ey

Leeds fans are chaos — glorious, loud, occasionally terrifying chaos. Every away end feels like a European night, and they don’t care if it’s at Burnley or Barcelona. They live for away days, they drink everything in sight, and sing non-stop from the first to the final whistle.
We know they are not everyone's cup of team, but no one can question their support.
5,400 Leeds fans at Fulham for an evening game back in 2021. 👏

I know it’s a running joke that Leeds “always take more” etc, but genuinely, do they have the best away following in the country? pic.twitter.com/1j9OxYgBVJ
If you’ve ever seen Newcastle away, you’ll know why they’re this high. They come in hordes, they sing the whole time, and they’ll happily take their shirts off in a snowstorm.
Wherever they go, it is like a Geordie takeover, and irrespective of the on-field performance, they live and die by their team.
It is clear to see where the countries best away fans reside. It's the North East.
Sunderland’s return to the top flight has reignited one of the best travelling fanbases in the country. The Black Cats will show up no matter the time or place, and we for one are delighted to have them back in the Premier League.
Atmospheres up and down the country are all the better for it.
6,000 Sunderland fans at Fulham today👏 #SAFC pic.twitter.com/qCkSlTRL3g
