Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is eyeing a managerial move to the Championship after his sacking at Beşiktaş earlier this season. He is most notably known for his both player and managerial role at Manchester United. In what looked like a poor stint at United, people are starting to realise that he actually did quite a good job finishing 2nd and 3rd in the Premier League. Don't forget that he also got to the finals of the 2021 Europa League where they eventually lost to Villarreal on penalties. But this isn't the Premier League. He won't have millions of pounds to spend on the most in-form players. The Championship is gritty and survival of the fittest. Most importantly, manager tactics prevail over the quality of players in the Championship. He will have a task on his hands whatever club he ends up at.
Middlesbrough -
You know when something just looks right? Boro are now without a manager since the abrupt exit of Rob Edwards who decided to skip promotion and manage in the Prem with Wolves. They currently sit 2nd in the league with the ambition of promotion. Now Solskjaer could be the man to take them up. His calm nature is what's needed for a club that would be piling the pressure on him for results straight away. Some might call it naivety, but it would steady the ship at Borough. The ball is in their court and they need someone who can hopefully alleviate any nerves that the fans and club have. Solskjaer also loves an interchangeable and dynamic front three so having players like Morgan Whittaker and Delano Burgzorg would be an added bonus.
Southampton -
It has been a horror start for Southampton so far. Having sat in 17th place and without a manager, Saints fans have been living a nightmare. However, there are still a plethora of games to play, and a manager void to be filled. Southampton need someone who can bring the players together and create a positive culture. Will Still lacked character and the players hardly respected him. Solskjaer likes to bring his identity into the club and give some overall solidarity. Think about how he stabilized United after how Mourinho left the club. Additionally, Southampton usually play in a 3-4-3 formation, one that he recently praised Ruben Amorim for using with Manchester United. A move to the south coast should definitely be an option for the Norwegian. They also have a bit of money in the bank, which Solskjaer won't be afraid of using.

“The 3-4-3, or 3-box-3 — whatever you want to call it — it’s horrible to play against when it’s done well. If you try to press it high, it’s really difficult.

Norwich City - These two just won't bind together that well. In the past, Norwich have flourished when they hire managers with a lower reputation in the game such as Daniel Farke and Paul Lambert. Solkjaer is the complete opposite of that. He is known by many not only for his managerial career at United but also his playing career. It would be a hindrance to the club's identity and Norwich have done well in the past sticking with a top-down approach. Norwich are in a very poor place at the moment. Defensively they look weak and look like they are going to concede every game. Solsjkaer's time at Cardiff City highlighted his struggles to play against top sides that take control of possession. He likes to play on the counter and by looking at Norwich's defensive record, that wouldn't be a good idea. A definite no.
Swansea City - Much like Norwich, Swansea are having a torrid time down in the bottom half of the Championship. The Welsh side are still loathing last decade's Premier League success, but those days have been and gone. Remember Michu, what a player. Anyway, Solskjaer is not the man to take them back to the promise land. Firstly, he already managed Swansea's bitter rivals Cardiff and it is quite possible that the fans would reject him from the off. Swansea fans also love their entertaining football and Solskjaer's transition-heavy style would go against that. They are also missing a star man, someone that he could build around like Bruno Fernandes at United.
The managerial saga is already heating up in the Championship and managers are coming and going like flies. Will Solskjaer get a job in the league? It's hard to tell, but some teams are better off having him than others.
