Aberdeen have held positive talks with Aberdeen City Council over their ambitions to build a new beach-side stadium and surrounding leisure complex, chairman Dave Cormack confirms.
This comes a surprise to most, as councillors less than a month ago came out publicly against the multi-million-pound project, and Aberdeen FC putting out an official statement saying the council’s position at the time “disappointing and disingenuous”.
The plans have been in the pipeline for around six years now, and fans are eager for the proposal to be brought to life with 92% of fans supporting the move in a club survey back in 2022. Their current stadium, Pittodrie, was built in 1899, predating Aberdeen FC. The club has said the new stadium will contribute a £3.2 billion boost to the local economy and contributing £100m in new revenues to the Council.

Aberdeen would be the first premiership to move stadiums since St Mirren moved from Love Street to St Mirren Park (now SMISA Stadium) in January 2009.
