Gustavo Hamer offered to the Premier League on an Obligatory Loan Deal

Sheffield United's Gustavo Hamer has been given the green light to make a Premier League switch in the closing days of the transfer window.

The Blades target an initial loan deal for the midfielder, which will include an obligation-to-buy price between £15-20m, per Joe Donnohue.

A switch to the Dutch League with PSV has also not been ruled out, with the Eredivisie champions' participation in the Champions League a potential factor.

Hamer has already been turned down by several top flight teams this summer, including Leeds United, yet a deal remains on the cards.

Blades in Bother

It has already been a terrible summer for Sheffield United, which started with the play-off final defeat to underdogs Sunderland and they now sit rock bottom of the table, having lost to Bristol City, Swansea and Millwall.

If they are to lose last campaign's Championship Player of the Year, having already seen Vini Souza transfer to Wolfsburg, their midfield stars which served them so well in multiple pushes for promotion will well and truly have evaporated.

The £1m loan fee paid to bring Djibril Soumare to Brammal Lane from Braga earlier this summer is unlikely to suffice, leaving Sydie Peck and co a big task on their hands to fill the void should Ruben Selles' side not invest further.

However, having made a profit of £18m this summer from transfers, the Blades should be in a comfortable position to bring another body into the midfield, even if Tahith Chong has just been purchased.

Premier League and Eredivisie Interest

Hamer has 36 appearances in England's top flight, having signed for Sheffield United from Coventry when the Blades were promoted in the summer of 2023.

However, the club massively struggled and went down with just 16 points, yet the Brazil-born midfielder has continued to be one of the biggest assets at Brammal Lane.

He also has an impressive goal return for a midfielder that has switched from box-to-box to deep-lying, with 54 goals and 53 assists across a career total of 389 games.

Clearly, the 28-year-old will offer a creative spark moving up the pitch as well as aggression and the ability to track back and put a shift in at the back despite his height of 5ft 7in.

As for PSV's interest, it will offer Hamer a chance to return to the league where he initially flourished with Feyenoord and later Dordrecht and PEC Zwolle.

Also, their European qualification means they will earn £80m in broadcast revenue from the league phase alone, giving them the financial means to pull a potential deal off.

However, they have recently added young Paul Wanner to their roster from Bayern Munich and already have Jerdy Schouten, Ismael Saibari and Joey Veerman to pick from in central areas - which may put them off another midfield addition.
