Leicester City defender Wout Faes is attracting interest from Bundesliga side VfL Wolfsburg, according to Florian Plettenberg. The German side are exploring a potential deal for the Belgian centre-back before the transfer window shuts, with other European clubs also monitoring his situation.

Faes, 27, has not started any of Leicester’s opening three Championship fixtures this season, with Marti Cifuentes preferring Caleb Okoli and Jannik Vestergaard at the heart of his defence. Despite featuring off the bench, Faes’ limited involvement suggests he may be out of favour at the King Power.
Since joining the Foxes from Reims in 2022, the Belgian international has been a key figure, notably during their Championship-winning campaign.
However, with Leicester already cashing in on several senior players this summer, a late exit for Faes could fit the club’s ongoing strategy of reducing the wage bill while reshaping the squad.

The Foxes have seen a mass departure in recent months, with the likes of Mads Hermansen, Conor Coady, James Justin, and Kasey McAteer all leaving the club. Even experienced names such as Wilfried Ndidi and Jamie Vardy have moved on, leaving Cifuentes to balance rebuilding with the club’s push for an immediate Premier League return.
Speaking earlier this week, the Leicester boss admitted:
“There’s going to be a lot of speculation and a lot of rumours about our players because they are good players, so I’m not surprised.”
Should Faes depart, Leicester would be left short in central defence, with Okoli, Vestergaard, youngster Ben Nelson, and the injured Harry Souttar as the only remaining options. That shortage could make Faes' exit a significant loss.
