Manchester United Keen on La Liga Starlet
Manchester United are reportedly showing concrete interest in Sevilla's France U21 starlet, Lucien Agoume, according to reports from Ficherio.
Agoume, 23, scored in Sevilla's opening day defeat to Athletic Bilbao, and is among the most highly-regarded young midfielders in La Liga, with his performances drawing praise for his composure, fearlessness and defensive prowess.
Manchester United have invested heavily into their mis-firing attack this summer, but still require a new number in their defensive midfield regiment, with Agoume's £35m release clause proving a tempting option for The Red Devils to look into.
Reportedly, Sevilla would be willing to let the 6'1 defensive midfielder go for the price of this clause, but the player is interested in continuing his career for Los Nervionenses.
Whilst Lucien Agoume may not be the first name on the top of everybody's wish-list this summer, the numbers behind his game lead to many reasons as to why Manchester United may see him as the answer to their midfield issues.
The 23-year-old made 4.73 tackles + interceptions per 90 in La Liga last season, placing him within the top 2% of players in the league for that stat line over the course of the 24/25 campaign.

Agoume made his first major move across Europe back in 2019, then aged just 17-years-old, switching French third tier side Sochaux for Italian giants Inter.
The Cameroon-born midfielder would make just 4 appearances for I Nerazzurri, before spending time on loan at Spezia, Brest, Troyes and Sevilla, who opted to trigger a £7m option to make the deal permanent the following summer after joining temporarily in January 2024.
Since then, Agoume has made 47 La Liga appearances, impressing purveyors with his composure in possession and tough-tackling capability.
With a release clause set at £35m, Manchester United are reportedly showing concrete interest in his services, with the club looking to bolster their deeper midfield that featured the likes of Casemiro and Manuel Ugarte in The Red Devil's opening-day defeat to Arsenal, wherein Ugarte drew particular criticism for his performance from the bench.

However, Agoume is in no rush to leave the Ramon Sanchez-Pizjuan Stadium this summer. With the World Cup approaching, Ficherio report that the 23-year-old is happy to remain at the club to continue his development in a settled environment, should Sevilla be willing to hold onto his services amidst any incoming offers.
At time of writing, Manchester United have not made any concrete offer for Agoume, but are reportedly showing concrete interest.
Much of Manchester United's summer spending has been targeted towards re-outfitting a mis-firing attacking line-up.
Bryan Mbeumo of Brentford, Wolves' Matheus Cunha and RB Leipzig star Benjamin Sesko have all arrived to set up a brand new front-three at the club, with 18-year-old left-back talent Diego Leon joining from Paraguyan side Cerro Porteno.
However, whilst attacking reinforcements were highly necessary, many also believe that Manchester United should be looking into a new defensive midfielder as a matter of equal urgency.
Though Casemiro's performances in red have improved following a cataclysmic display of form in the 23/24 season, his waning mobility and pace mean that United should not be relying on him for the forthcoming season - one wherein the club will be desperate to make a marked improvement upon last season's dismal 15th-placed finish.
Kobbie Mainoo will undoubtedly continue to flourish into a player of real influence, though his best performances are not found playing as an out-and-out holding midfielder, whereas Manuel Ugarte drew heavy online criticism for his substitute performance against Arsenal on opening day.

Manchester United's priority for the rest of the window should be to look into the arrival of a new number six - and Agoume's release clause may present them with the chance for a smart piece of business for their future.
