Sheffield United are closing in on the signing of former West Ham United striker Danny Ings this week, with a medical reportedly taking place later today, as per Mark McAdam.
Ings, 33, is currently a free agent having been released by The Hammers this summer, having spent the last 11 years of his career residing within the Premier League through spells with Burnley, Liverpool, Southampton and Aston Villa.
Having only found the Premier League net on four occasions in 52 games since a move to The London Stadium in January 2023 from The Villains, Ings departed West Ham at the end of the 24/25 season. Championship clubs were circling their bids to bring Ings down to the second tier, with the 33-year-old now set for a move to Bramall Lane.
Danny Ings is a player that represents experience, nous and tact as part of an impressive Premier League stay.
Having spend over a decade residing in the top flight, scoring 72 goals in that time, Ings' best years came in the red and white of Southampton, where he scored 41 Premier League goals in three seasons, having initially joined on loan from Liverpool in 2018.
If Danny Ings stays fit, he'll get goals in the championship, but that's a big if. Always been a fan of Redmond but he hasn't played much last couple years. Good experience for their relegation battle though tbf. https://t.co/0kxxCYTIdy

Moves to Aston Villa and West Ham didn't quite bring the same level of firepower to Ings' scoring repertoire, and the thrice-capped England international departed the latter at the end of his contract after a fairly fruitless spell in London.
Now, however, a move to struggling promotion hopefuls Sheffield United now looks to be on the cards for Ings, with the veteran striker set to undergo a medical in the coming hours ahead of a move that could be finalised ahead of Monday's (1st of September) transfer deadline.
Sheffield United are also expected to secure the signing of Red Star Belgrade right-back Seol Young-Woo before the window slams shut this coming Monday.
Seol, 26, has a release clause of £4.3m according to reports, and his club are expecting his match against Pafos FC in the Champions League to be his final outing for the club.

Seol has been capped 26 times by the South Korean national team, and scored six goals and laid on a further eight assists in all competitions last season. He will join a Sheffield United defence looking to secure the signings of Japhet Tanganga and Ben Mee this week.
