Though the January transfer window is still three weeks away, the rumour mill is already churning - Irish football fans, you have officially been put on notice, as in the last few hours, University College Dublin winger Adam Brennan has been linked with a host of top English sides.

Brennan, who is just 20 years old, has had an impressive first full season at senior level, having featured periodically in the last two seasons - in 30 games this year, he has notched 10 goals and 12 assists.
Thanks to his consistent excellence, EFL clubs have started to take notice of the young Irishman, with Birmingham City, Hull City and Wrexham all keeping an eye on the winger, according to Pete O’Rourke (@SportsPeteO on X).
However, by far the most reputable suitor for Brennan is current FA Cup and Community Shield holder Crystal Palace, to the surprise of very few.
Thanks to their success last season, Oliver Glasner’s men, who are competing in the Europa Conference League this campaign, are looking to bolster their squad depth and youth development programmes to a point where they match those of their more illustrious rivals, made up of the Premier League’s original ‘big six’.
As a result, to see the Eagles register interest in young overseas talent is far from a shock - at 20, and just starting to gather some senior experience, Brennan is the exact profile of player that Palace will attempt to develop into a first-team star.
There are some downsides to this potential move - question marks do hang over Brennan’s head in that despite playing 30 games this season, only two have come in the Irish Premier Division, with the majority coming in the First Division or the FAI Cup. To his credit, Brennan appears far too good for this level - his attacking output speaks for itself - and would certainly not be fast-tracked into the first team if he were to secure a move to the Eagles.
However, at the age of 20, many players of Brennan’s ability would have received significant minutes at a top level by now, and the fact that Brennan’s appearances at the highest level have been limited could lead to concerns that his development has been stunted.

Good luck to him, below is a goal he scored this season for UCD ⚽️💪 pic.twitter.com/gbDh0q7hQW
Nevertheless, Brennan comes very highly rated, and after EFL clubs showed interest earlier in the season, it is only to his credit that a Premier League team is now considering a move.
