Wrexham have emerged as a potential suitor for Stade Rennais midfielder Jordan James towards the end of this summer's transfer window, according to a report from L'Equipe.
James, 21, only made a move to Brittanny at the start of last season from then-League One side Birmingham City, but has struggled to make an impact in Ligue 1, starting just 14 games and registering a single goal contribution.
Watching wxm over the parky years, we work the best with 2 of the 3 central midfielders with proper legs. Matty James or Dobson, with Lewis and Jordan James. That would be the missing part of the puzzle for me.. #wxmafc https://t.co/x7U3JznTtm

Wrexham will contend with fellow interest from an unnamed Championship club - believed in reports to be Ipswich Town - as well as Serie A side Parma.
The 2004-born midfielder spent 13 years on the books at Birmingham City, making 95 league appearances in that time before leaving for France during the summer transfer window of 2024.
Now, with opportunities limited for the 20-times-capped Wales international, Stade Rennais are ready to commission a sale for the talented central man, with Wrexham hopeful of bringing him back to his home nation.
Jordan James was regarded as being amongst one of the higher potential players in the EFL during his formative years as a first-teamer with Birmingham City.
The Blues handed the then-17-year-old his senior debut on the 2nd of November 2021, in a 3-0 home win against Bristol City in the EFL Championship. James would make a further 94 showings for the side, before departing for Ligue 1 in the summer of 2024.

However, following a limited amount of time on the pitch in France, Stade Rennais are prepared to let the midfielder leave. Wrexham and Parma are the two named interested parties, with reports elsewhere attaching Ipswich Town as the unnamed club in L'Equipe's report.
Parma, according to said report, have proposed a loan-to-buy deal for the 21-year-old midfielder, whereas Wrexham are ready to spend £4.3m to bring the Welshman to the club on a permanent basis, after Rennais secured his services last summer for a little under that fee.
If Wrexham were to secure the signing of the Wales international, he would join a midfield pack already bolstered by the arrivals of Lewis O'Brien, Josh Windass and George Thomason this summer. Known for his competence and composure in possession and ability to link-up play, the arrival of the talented 21-year-old would be regarded as an astute addition to a team gearing up for a Premier League bid over the course of the coming seasons.
