Former Manchester United forward Dwight Yorke has urged Jesse Lingard to make a move to an EFL club before the end of the season.
The 33-year-old is currently a free agent, having departed South Korean side FC Seoul 2 weeks ago after playing a starring role for the side in his two years spent there.
Now, the former Manchester United star will be weighing up his options ahead of a return to the pitch, and Yorke has urged him to consider a move to high-flying Wrexham.
Speaking with PokerScout, Yorke said:
“Jesse is an interesting character. I’ve always kept an eye on him due to the United connection.
“I really don’t know what his priority is right now, but he still obviously wants to play football and at the Championship level, there’s no question he’d be an asset.
“If he were to go to Wrexham, that wouldn’t be a surprise either. Maybe he feels it’s time to come back home to be closer to his daughter and help Wrexham get promoted to the Premier League.
“That could be one last rodeo for him, and I’ve experienced the advantages of joining a Championship team.

“I did it at Sunderland when they were 23rd, and we got promoted as champions.
“It can be done, and it’s a way to get Jesse back to a level I’m sure he’s craving. I would certainly consider it.
“Wrexham are a very ambitious team with wealthy backers, making good progress and currently sitting mid-table in the Championship.
“I would tell Jesse to look at it, as I’m a prime example that it’s possible.
“When it’s done, it’s a fantastic achievement and before you know it, you’re playing Premier League football again when you thought it was all doom and gloom. I encourage him to look at it.”
The Red Dragons could surely do far worse than adding a 33-year-old Jesse Lingard into their ranks.
The former Manchester United attacking midfielder already has chops in the EFL, enjoying loan spells with the likes of Birmingham City, Derby County and Brighton during his more formative years before going on to amass over 175 Premier League appearances with Manchester United, West Ham and Nottingham Forest.

Capped 32 times for England with six international goals to his name, Lingard would be a signing that brings more than just pure experience to the pitch, but also a big reputation and media presence that goes hand-in-hand with the marketable rise of the North Wales outfit, led by actors Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney.
He would head to the EFL off the back of some solid form in South Korea too - he bagged 19 goals from 67 appearances for FC Seoul, and was a hugely popular figure in the K-League.
